When I reached a certain point (collected some asset/video about OoPs) I felt certain that the game designer was inspired to some extent by the ridiculously good mini-series The Lost Room, a criminally underrated sci-fi mini-series.
Game keeps freezing for me going into the collectible menu to read what I picked up. Press the button to exit menu and then the game freezes(sound continuous but im not able to bring anything except a ctrl alt del to the forefront)
Anyone had this or better yet know how to fix it? DX12 mode
In my benchmarking, I noticed only very slightly better average FPS on DX12 but worse Frametimes than on DX11. So I‘m using DX11, V-sync and AMD Antilag (to offset the V-sync lag) and it runs buttersmoth and responsive. Of course on Turing you‘re going to want to use DX12 for the RT effects.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
The game feels tedious and annoying later on when it comes to combat and the stupid side quests popping everywhere... and I've not even died that much.
The combat itself is fine (and destruction awesome) but it get's tiresome later on. Every encounter is very similar and because enemies respawn randomly, exploring is annoying.
I am not sure if metroidvania format is doing the game more good than bad. They did not needed to bloat it with fetch quests and the timed quests that pop up with a huge title in the middle of battle. The game is full enough as it is with good quests!
Some side boss battles are also quite annoying before You figure out their pattern. Learning a pattern is not skill. The same can be said for some souls bosses(especially in 3). Pattern learning is great for perfecting the battle if You want to but it should be possible to beat stuff mostly first time if You do not suck and have no problem anywhere else in the game.
Overall, I love the destruction, atmosphere, graphics and mostly... well I like the game. But I wish it was more focused with the some bloat and running around gone. There is not THAT much of bloat and it can be mostly ignored but You will need the ability points to keep the combat less annoying later.
It's nice that there are Alan Wake and Max Payne actors but so far (landfill part of the game) the characters are not as memorable as in previous games.
The music is non existent too. Weird glitch drums for 15 hours? Nothing memorable.
I appreciate that there are some interesting "scp" like documents around but there is so much of it. I am putting out reading them for checkpoint time to keep the pacing going. All in all, it's a great/good game but if makes me think how much I loved Max payne 1,2 and Alan Wake. More linear games that have a focus on less mechanics and do not overstay their welcome. Also, this game reminds me of Evil Within 2. great, underrated game!
edit: I forgot to mention: fuck those exploding flying enemies. wtf ...
Edit: I dont want to sound too negative! Its a great game and I will take normal single player game over any bullshit nowadays. You can still see modern games influence in this though. There are "loot boxes" with their stupid animation every time probably to make younger audience feel something the crafting and gathering of materials is also not needed here. All in all its good sp game, better than qb for sure. I will probably finish it tomorrow and see then if it beats AW but probably not.

The more I play the game the more annoying it is. The checkpoint system is fucking AWFUL. Reach a new area, fight past strong enemies but don't reach the next cleanse point, die, get back all the way to the start and fight everyone again.
Combat is starting to get kinda tedious. The level design is rather confusing and the map is USELESS.
Download cheatengine table. Set the weapon damage to 99, get Charge gun mode (which is pretty useless otherwise), ???, PROFIT.

For some reason this game manages to reboot my system ever since the second time ive played it. tried everything i could to fix it but no dice, every other game and even pushing cpu + gpu to 100% via benchmarks doesnt produce any faults.
Are you overclocking? If so, try without overclocking. Installed latest drivers? If not, do so. Also open a command prompts (Run as Administrator) and type sfc /scannow to check and fix any missing/corrupt system files.
Tried to go on Stock speeds with the CPU and Debug mode for the GPU, updated all drivers and even the BIOS. Also its only this one game so far showing this behaviour everything else ive tested ran without issues. The sfc /scannow command did actually find some errors that it said it couldnt repair, dont have any experience with that though.
Apparently my PSU was dying and this game was merely the first to show symptoms... after replacing the faulty PSU i havent had any issues anymore.
That worked just fine. Not sure what "0x1401925EF" is though. I opened the DX12 exe in a hex editor, jumped to 1919EF and changed the original bytes to what's listed in the second row.
If it is loaded in memory at address 0x140000000 then that is the memory address of that code, probably. One is the address offset of the code in the file itself, the other in memory.
But that would mean that the game is placing the exe at that exact position. Which is weird. I didn't think modern games/apps used static addressing. What if that particular address in memory is reserved by the system?
Perhaps it's a relative address in memory. Well, I just don't know. And 1401925EF in decimal is exactly 5GB (1401925EF / 1024 / 1024 / 1024).

Ahhh, then maybe the hex editor allocates 5gb and just shows you where you are in that buffer.
Well, runs fine on my 1060 6GB. Global Reflections off, SSAO on medium. Most things on medium except textures on ultra. I'm also running the "Intelligent standby list cleaner" tool that was linked earlier. And I'm overclocking the GPU to ~2100MHz and VRAM to 2340MHz * 4 (9360MHz effective).
mine runs smooth 60+ constant on dx12 with everything on max except global reflections and volumetric lightning on medium, with these two you gain at least 10 fps with no visible difference, no blur.
this nowhere near runs as bad as quantum break at launch on windows store, also a big difference on how good it runs with so many things on screen like destruction
Yeah, I did that thing you linked to as well. I also upgraded to latest drivers (after NVSlimmer removed all the junk, no Geforce Experience or telemetry etc., just the core files + HDMI Audio) and used the Nvidia control panel to set Low Latency Mode to Ultra.
I agree about gefore experience but why bother with nvslimmer? is 500mb too much ?!
Is there a reason to continue after credits aside from finishing some side missions ?
