Any help here?
HDR is broken in this game, it's the same on consoles. Better to play with it turned off. It's not true HDR, it just fakes it.
For anyone experiencing the dreaded low audio volume, change your sound quality on Windows to 24 bits 44100Hz, worked great for me. I no longer need to crank up my speaker volumes

A lot of the settings on XB1X are custom-made, but this is the closest to getting the equivalent in the PC version.
A 2080Ti more than doubles its performance once dropped to those settings from Ultra, and delivers a locked 60fps at 4K.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

"High and ultra will allow this game to scale far into the future" but the changes are barely visible. Fur, tree and grass LOD makes some kind of difference. The rest are really, really diminishing returns for the crazy performance they take.
Meanwhile, smoke goes through people's hats, weapons clip through clothes, Nintendo-style checkerboard transparency rather than using alpha, etc. Would have preferred they focused on those issue, which have far more visual impact.
Companies spending hundreds of millions of dollars on game dev just don't have the resources to get 10-30 most common PC configurations and test on them, mkay?
Why bother when your paying customers will do it for you?
Having around 60 FPS here with high-ultra settings. But I took the No-AA mode with added sharpening from AMDs wattman setting. I prefer jaggies over the disgustingly flat and washed out look from TAA. The game looks beautiful and really creates an atmosphere. Minor glitches aside. Also no crashes so far.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Yeah do you remember the days when big games were released in a finished and bugfree state?
Spoiler:
I don't
Daikatana had 0 bugs at release.
Spoiler:
As far as I remember games between 2000 and 2005 were mostly bug-free. Majority were AI glitches. Half Life 2, Star Wars: KotOR, the Max Payne games, Warcraft 3, C&C series, SW: Jedi Academy, NeverWinter Night etc didn't have serious bugs if I recall right?
As if any of those games, perhaps even combined, are anywhere near as complex as this. The animation alone is out of this world
Anyway, I'm giving up for now. The AI is too dumb / easy. Things that would fix it: far more damage from weapons applied to the player, ragdoll effect on player when shot, slower reload times, and increasing AI reaction times / accuracy. Every shootout is a cakewalk otherwise. Thankfully those are really easy things to edit (if GTAV was anything to go by).
Yea if Arthur would react more physically to being shot, being dazed, stumbling etc that would up the challenge quite a bit.
Plus just look cool when you get executed by a big squad.

Out of curiosity, what's your CPU/GPU combo ?
edit: Playing at 1920x1200 btw.
Ryzen 1700X/Vega64 (OCed to give about 10% more performance than stock depending on the engine, but I didnt do benchmarks on this one yet) Since this game uses Vulkan/DX12, the CPU is not that important. Rockstar did a fine job in their DX12/Vulkan implementation in such a visually complex game. The CPU workload is nicely distributed among the cores and does not limit the GPU like in all those AssCreed games. Of course Pascal cards don‘t profit as much but that was to be expected. The better an engine makes use of DX12/Vulkan features, the more Pascal cards are limited compared to GCN/Turing.

Well, the tech is better today. The RDR 2 engine was used in GTA V and it ran almost without issues at release. And 10-15 years ago those were the big games who could be made with the available resources. Today's engines are much easier to use and the graphics programs are far better as well. Pretty sure animating was one of the hardest thing to do 15 years ago.
