Is it a good time to upgrade from older cpus with DDR5 looming on the horizon? I'm still on 6700k, and with the new consoles out this year, seems like I need more cores.
It depends on your needs. If I were you I would wait for those #nextgen games and see how much difference would a new CPU bring while gaming on the resolutions you are using.

With the 5600X so expensive now, they couldn't even release a 5700X, unless they price it closely to the 5800X.
Glad I got the 3700X when it came out, now I just hope it will be fast enough for the entire next generation.
Then in a couple of years upgrade to newest DDR and some futuristic CPU. At least that's the plan.
Otherwise I could get a bargain bin/second hand 5950X a few years down the road, should be the final and best CPU that fits into my mainboard socket.
i was checking the 5800x and the 10700K and apart from the lack of pcie4 the intel one seems better price/perf, didn't check intel mobo price which is more expensive though.
amd stock during the presentation reached $88.7, then started to drop, today it's $83 and continues falling wtf
amd stock is an absolute bubble, a barely 10 billion revenue company is priced double what intel a 72 billion dollar companie is ...
stock market is retarded
idiots impulse buyers gonna see it fall to 40 and below soon enough
also intel is massively underpriced atm so yes, better of buying intel, they got billions in cash reserves, amd has very very little to noone and one slip up and its poef
