Probably ~600yuro for the 5900x here... but fuck it, once in a lifetime Very Happy
Now to wait for the initial fuckups (if any appear) to be addressed then

Is it a good time to upgrade from older cpus with DDR5 looming on the horizon? I'm still on 6700k, and with the new consoles out this year, seems like I need more cores.

It depends on your needs. If I were you I would wait for those #nextgen games and see how much difference would a new CPU bring while gaming on the resolutions you are using.

ddr5 is still a year away and then u never want the first iteration of that so forget about ddr5 for a while still :/

and now will be the perfect time to get a cheap 1600af,2700x or 3600 second hand for super value

no way u should pay full price , unless u want the top 500 usd processor or something

Isn't/wasn't DDR5 on GPU's? So you'd think they'll use a different name ^^

With the 5600X so expensive now, they couldn't even release a 5700X, unless they price it closely to the 5800X.
Glad I got the 3700X when it came out, now I just hope it will be fast enough for the entire next generation.
Then in a couple of years upgrade to newest DDR and some futuristic CPU. At least that's the plan.
Otherwise I could get a bargain bin/second hand 5950X a few years down the road, should be the final and best CPU that fits into my mainboard socket.

i was checking the 5800x and the 10700K and apart from the lack of pcie4 the intel one seems better price/perf, didn't check intel mobo price which is more expensive though.

At 4k you're more likely to be GPU limited. CPU has most impact at lower resolutions in combination with high refresh rate displays (100hz+)

Absolutely, good thing I'm set in that department Wink I also do a lot of things in Blender nowadays, so every last drop of performance is welcome Laughing

amd stock is an absolute bubble, a barely 10 billion revenue company is priced double what intel a 72 billion dollar companie is ...

stock market is retarded

idiots impulse buyers gonna see it fall to 40 and below soon enough

also intel is massively underpriced atm so yes, better of buying intel, they got billions in cash reserves, amd has very very little to noone and one slip up and its poef

They're rumoured to be buying Xilinx for $30 billion, that could be a factor in the fluctuations.
