It's vaporware at this point. The devs have been super sketchy, changing their focuses constantly (what was a co-op PVE game is now having more focus on PVP), they keep quietly pushing back the dates without telling anyone, refusing refunds. Steam forums for them are mostly a bunch of pissed off customers who bought into it too early. If I remmber right too there was a switch up of staff too that was leaked. Devs won't give out any details about anything.
Guns sound like absolute shit. 12 gauge shotgun sounds like a god damn paintball gun.

Rainbow six 1-2-3, the first ghost recons, socom, all these games were awesome and didn't had unlockables as progression. Gamers have become full retards

where does it say anything about a school shooting? They don't share jack shit with their customers and haven't for ages, let alone telling people it's because of a level.

Because school shootings aren't totally controversial or anything, and publishers aren't spineless cowards or anything. Yeah, it's a tough one to figure out, especially since they probably had contracts drawn up already, and the only one who would possibly shy away from such a decision, for a game doing as well as it's doing, would be the publisher.
It's clearly a taboo subject in the world of gaming. I completely understand why a developer would choose to distance themselves from that given it will inevitably receive a ton of media backlash. Subsequently media outlets would cite the game for any budding psychopaths rampaging around schools, regardless of the fact you're taking out the shooter in the game. We all know how the media work.

I love it. The foundation is great, but the game needs polishing and more content. I can't wait to see what they do with the PvP mode, it has the potential to be way better than what Zero Hour has to offer in this regard.

I would wait a bit longer. They did do a complete 180. My previous older posts didn't age well. Everyone was pretty pissed with the MP garbage they were showing off.
They kept everyone in the dark, they don't keep anyone informed on what's being added, what's being worked on, nothing. Nothing for MONTHS. People who backed them on their own site were wanting refunds and still didn't hear back from the devs.
Then this EA released and was a complete night/day difference to what we all thought was going on, which could have kept a lot of people happy if they just communicated with the people who already backed them.
They're pretty garbage at communicating what their plans are and what they're doing and I'm not a fan of EA as it is, but 0 communication from the devs isn't ok.
It will sit nicely on my wishlist until the day it leaves EA
I haven't bought a single EA game ever since DayZ back in 2013
My last was Ark, and thankfully I Got in on that release day bug where refunds were being accepted lol. Got my money back with 250 hours on it. Pissed me off when they lost that lawsuit and started making DLC for the game when it wasn't even out of EA yet. Fucking twats.
Then seeing what the devs did with Savage Lands, I lost faith in the EA system that Valve does nothing to to hold anyone responsible.
Damn good game, this. Basically SWAT 5 in everything but name. I really hope that they don't drag their ass and have this languish in Early Access forever. Also, they need to keep the focus on PVE and not get sidetracked by stupid PVP bullshit - that's not what this is about. Here's to hoping they weather the shitstorm successfully and don't pussy out when they add their controversial levels - the twatter mobs are idiotic but vicious.
Three big gripes that I have with this (that I also had with SWAT 3 and 4 back in the day) - that have no reason to STILL be gripes after all these years -
1) Trailers need to be a thing, not just a radio call-out. When I clear a floor, or a set of rooms, an AI team needs to come in behind me to escort the prisoners/hostages out, with a few staying behind to cover our rear/exit point in case of any stray runners.
2) A single 5 man team is simply NOT big enough to take on the task of clearing levels of this size and intricacy efficiently. In reality, you'd have multiple teams each tasked with clearing, for instance, a particular floor of that five story building. Solution? When you play with others in multiplayer - allow them to be team-leads instead of team-mates, and command their own AI squad (with the amount of available team leads being scaled to the size/intricacy of the level). Not quite sure how this could be addressed in SP.
3) AI voice commands needed to be added back in. The nested orders system is fine, but voice recognition would be so much more immersive. I'm pretty sure SWAT 4 had this, no?

#1 Would be REALLY nice, but as the AI tends to become unresponsive at times, it'd add another layer to not being able to complete bugged out missions
#2 The way Rainbow Six addressed it in SP back in 1998 would be nice

It seems that this is another story where the devs have game's destiny in their hands. I can understand the radio silence on some degree due to them being a small studio and probably still learning stuff as they go, but it would be naive to put all my trust only on those reasons.
I think I will wait for a while and see how it goes. I really do want this to be success after so many FPS failures during last few years.
I hope that they stay away of sprinting, progression, kill streaks, heroes and other things many of us would like to take a break off.

We've had so many filthy imposters, half-assed attempts or popamole tripeA entries over the years that it feels nice to read that the game actually delivers in terms of gameplay mechanics. It's doing exceptionally well on Steam too. The temptation is there but I'll bite the tactical bullet when it will reach the 1.0 version (hopefully)
