Another update is out:

"
Patch 4.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available! It improves the overall stability and performance of the game and brings various fixes.

Here's the list of changes for this update:

PC-SPECIFIC

Fixed an issue where the Screen Space Reflections setting wasn't working on PC despite being turned on. Players who had previously set their SSR setting to high may notice a performance impact.
Added a new performance mode for ray-traced global illumination, which can be toggled by players with compatible hardware. It improves frame rate by prioritizing performance over range and precision.

QUESTS & GAMEPLAY

Battle Preparations - Fixed an issue where it could be impossible to interact with Avallac'h during the objective "Let Avallac'h know everything's ready."
Family Matters - Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash during the transition to Ciri's Story: Out of the Shadows when speaking to the Bloody Baron.
King's Gambit - Fixed an issue where it could be impossible to participate in the fistfight with the second Vildkaarl due to an invisible obstacle.
Wine Wars: Belgaard - Added a retrofix for the issue we fixed in 4.00, where the quest couldn't be completed if the player destroyed one of the required monster nests during exploration.
A Dangerous Game - The armor in Caesar's room should now change its appearance when the Alternate Nilfgaardian Armor is turned on.
Axii Puppet - Increased the health and damage dealt by the puppet.
Adrenaline Rush mutation should now work according to its description.
Various small fixes to quests and cutscenes.

LOCALIZATION

Fixed various issues with Arabic localization.
Added the localized versions of Orianna's song "Lullaby of Woe" in Korean and Simplified Chinese.
Adjusted Priscilla's lip-sync animation to match her voice-over in Simplified Chinese during the song "The Wolven Storm".

Please note: these are only the most notable changes. The patch contains other minor fixes that didn't make it into this list.

"

New update, new problems. Very Happy

A magic patch this is not:

A bit unbelievable that even with DLSS3 this game drops below 60 fps, if I was seeing things correctly. Amazing Laughing

RT still mean awfull stuttering. No change. Game says 60 fps avg in the very same place I test very single hotfix but feeling is like 5 fps max. Without RT it is smooth.
I doubt they will ever fix it.

They won't.

And RTX is still terrible in Cyberpunk also.

Like I said: nVidia is forcing this shit down their throats but it seems support for it is absolute crap.

Nvidia is not forcing anything down their throats. CDPR is more than happy to take money from Nvidia to implement this stuff.

Once you reach the big players' table, you are forced to play their games, by their rules.

This is why I quit my job from one of the biggest real estate companies in the country. At that stage people turn into numbers. It's... fucked-up.

And this shit is fucking common in today's capitalism, you, so beautiful and intelligent people... Rolling Eyes

Even I wasn't stupid enough to *cough* a 4080/4090.

See once you turn off that RT/DLSS shit though, game runs sweet and looks as good as ever Wink Same with RDR2.

But it doesn't look anywhere near as good without RT. Lighting specifically.

Looks just exactly the same with my eyes lol

If the game was meant to have it, then fair enough, but the only thing this is doing, is making it unplayable for most, with very little difference in quality lol.

Make a new game, Witcher 4? with RT galore, but please leave what 'was' alone lol. It looked good on release, and still does without that shit. Just be happy we can now run it with 'hairworks' ON, and @ 8xMSSA, which is all most complained about on release.

RT ain't magically gonna make any older game look better lol, apart from being a little more shiny, and grind your system to a halt.

Eh... yes and no.

And trading a massive performance drop for RTX... is hardly worth it.

I stick with my own point(s).

In some cases it's worth it (yes), in some cases it doesn't (no).

Addendum: And in the case of 'no', the game still looks excellent and it doesn't feel like it's missing something.

And the performance tradeoff is the most important here. Is it worth it? I'd say 82.93% it ain't.

Yeah well that's entirely subjective isn't it. I think it just looks old and flat and I don't even want to play it that way after having a taste of RT.

Not defending the performance though. It's inexcusable even compared to other RT titles. Still, either I play RT with shit performance or I don't play at all because missing out on RT is a deal-breaker to me now.

It's massive drop only for pre RTX 4K cards, once you enable DLSS3 you get performance back, so why not use it?
There is some random flickering though, even on Geralt character. It happens randomly.

The massive performance trade-off is also because this is some shoddy third-party effort, that is the entire remaster

The RT implementation is especially bad, at least when it comes to performance, the global illumination is actually very nice

But, that's the thing about RT, it's not because of their great work.. RT just works - but that doesn't mean that you can't optimize it

Cyberpunk has a far more complex rendering workload and a very extensive RT implementation

And it just runs far better.

Fuck me... so that's why 99.99% of gamers are fucked and have troubles running the game.

They don't own a 4xxx RTX card.

No change in peformance in terms of fps here.
But... frame generation times with RT seems to be fixed for me.
I don't have massive stuttering now.
Who knows... year or two it actually might be fixed.
