Yeah, controller seems to push towards stealth Although the shotgun helps a lot with that handicap The bullet impact on surroundings and enemies, and the resulting bloody mess is pretty satisfying
Also discovered the auto-pickup feature hidden somewhere in the options, for thoese who don't know that exists. Makes a world of difference
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
I have a theory and I'm scared that this could be true. Listen to me:
I'm not engineer but jugding by the way this game uses the memory (both RAM and VRAM) I could swear they tried to replicate the PS5 memory management behavior by replicating the storage on both RAM and VRAM like this is a shared RAM system, and I say this because every time the RAM memory usage goes up, so it does the VRAM.
Right now, when I have VRAM at 10GB I have the main executable using 10GB of RAM and when my VRAM goes up to 14GB, my main RAM usage also goes up to 14GB.
This is easily obsevable if you are using Rivatuner Statistics Server. It's almost magic that both RAM & VRAM appears to be synchronized in their usage.
Pardon me for suspecting that they are actually dumping RAM into VRAM to simulate a PS5 but that is what it appears to be happening here, which could explain the super slow load time, which is 5 minutes to load a map... on my M2 RAID0 drive with a 13900K.
For me it crashed 10 times already, only on 35 percent of shader build up... it takes fucking ages and eats my CPU...
game looks Ok at most on high preset with DLSS Quality 3440x1440, yet it runs like crap... sometimes dips below 60fps...
vram and ram usage is insane... especially when textures on high are rather poor quality...
they deserve those negative reviews, should have wait for patches... but couldn't resist...
edit: another crash.... will let the game finish shaders tomorrow and see if it helps...
This is why I'm not even starting until people start speaking about how much better it is after some more patches. I didn't wait ~10 years for this shit
"And so we want to make sure that The Last of Us Part 1 PC debut is in the best shape possible. These additional few weeks will allow us to ensure this version of The Last of Us lives up to your, and our, standards.”
next crash occurred even faster after restart.... I just dont see realistic they will do something with memory leak, cause 16+8GB RAM+VRAM is less than PlayStation 5 has for sure...
And all of those are paired with a i9-13900K + 32GB RAM
3080 + 13900k = 52FPS at 1440p

On first game launch, the title will start precompiling shaders, a lot of them, totaling 12 GB. This takes forever, even on a decent CPU, 10-20 minutes is not unexpected. What makes things worse is that this shader compilation will often crash, especially on GeForce cards, especially when you have less than 32 GB RAM. At least you don't have to start all over again, but launching the game ten or twenty times just to get to the main menu is really unacceptable. I wonder what the QA testers were doing all this time... Once you've made it into the game the game will crash sometimes (4x in my testing). The AMD Radeon driver also crashed several times during testing, and I've seen numerous reports of DLSS causing additional crashes, when enabled. The developers have already pushed out several game updates, and it seems that they are serious about fixing these problems quickly. Let's hope they can resolve them soon, so that people can enjoy this masterpiece of a game.
I mean, besides the fact that it’s the 3rd(?) remaster of the same goddamn game. Play it once then be done with it, not like it’s dark souls or diablo, it’s a linear game for gods sake. 60e? Even 20e is too much… then as to the port itself? The port is a joke, trash tier diarrhea, and even then, people defend it. I mean…

yeah, it eats vram for breakfast, so the 12 gig 3060 outperforms the 3070 at 1440p. And the 3070 is more than 50% faster normally. The 10 gig 3080 also chokes
I wouldn't get my hopes up for major changes. This seems to be incredibly custom made for playstations architecture and there is a metric ton of additional work needed here. Complete rewrites of the engine and shit like that. My guess is that we will get some bumps here and there of stuff working better, but i would not expect some transformative experience.
I hope the commercial failure gives sony a kick in the nuts for this. Everyone there knew how bad this is, but the suits don't seem to get it through their skulls unless they lose money. Well, this being red on steam and among the worst performing from an already poorly performing selection of sony games should make things pretty clear
Neah, they''re not stoping, it will only accelerate. They are making profit in relation to the extremely minimal investment these require. Remember the god of war port was made by 4 guys. Thats nothing at all in costs.
They're making a profit regardless. It's just that they're not maximising the potential profit. These days steam and pc itself is a gigantic platform that's often at the top in sales. Games are routinely selling millions of copies on steam. And these guys are missing on all of it with their years old launches in shit state, that do some few hundred thousand copies in the launch window.
They need to move them as close to day and date as possible and not give a shit what cultist retards post on the sony blog or twitter about it.
Had my first crash tonight and on relaunch graphics were messed up, relaunching again fixed it. HOWEVER I managed to get a pretty smooth experience at 1440p (DLSS/FSR Quality) turning the sliders of chromatic abomination all the way down as well as film grain (I don't get these effects the game looks so much clearer without them). I really did not expect them to affect performance as much as they did since they hardly do on other games but god damn good riddance. I also recommend turning Real time reflections to medium, on water surfaces there is practically no difference and on the 1 or 2 mirrors you'll come across here and there those mirrors are often broken anyway, but major performance can be gained this way for close to no cost.
I didn't pay for this so I'm pretty okay with it running as it does, perhaps I got lucky with no major deal breakers. But if I shelled 60 dollars I'd be pissed.
Gotta say tho when all is going good, the environment so rich in detail it's awesome. These guys are top notch at that but their engine seems to be PS hardware focused at its very core.

Just don't pay for this shit and wait if a cracl comes along, simple.

There's still the shittiniess of the crosshair delay before it becomes precise and the wobblyness of Joel.
wobblyness as in weapon sway? even the first upgrade is enough. but for melee is not necessary. u just throm a brick/bottle at them then rush and melee
i remember on ps3 had to stealth kill every clicker they were like terrifying...now i go full ham on them. its just more enjoyable with mouse and also the fact that u can run backwards helps
