Mixed feelings based on reviews. Great performance but it comes with a huge cost in terms of power consumption and heat as well. NVIDIA has removed hot spot sensor from FE and we can only wonder why. This card feels like 'Intel's approach' ie. when power consumption and temperatures have no upper limit. 5090's hot spot is absolutely very close if not over 100C during winter days. In hot places this card will get hot like never before.
Did people really expect the already ridiculous $2000 msrp to be true or what? Between customs, VAT and scalpers that looks about right. sell your kidneys for this shit:
I'm thinking now that for my upcoming rig upgrade I will choose a graphics card based exclusively on raw power, large enough vram and of course price, and completely ignore this frame generation bullshit, which I plan not to use whatsoever from now on. That might very well lead me to end up buying a potent 40-series GPU instead of one of these newest 50-series.
This is unless I suddenly realize that I need AI processing power on my PC, which right now I don't think I do.
even if raw performance comes at the cost of a few extra hundred watts that's still a no go for me since I'm not in iceland where power is almost free.
550W for a few hrs of gaming is equivalent of leaving your microwave on for the same amount of time, that shit will add up quick to a smack in the face of a power bill.
current GPU tech just hit a hard wall and if we're lucky someone will rethink the architecture of it from scratch to make it efficient again. instead of this current trend of AI + Nuclear power plant.

I understand your point, power here (a country neighbouring yours) is not the cheapest but it's not unaffordable either, so I am willing to pay a bit extra for that raw performance, and also, these 50-series cards seem to have upped the ante when it comes to power consumption compared to the 40-series anyway (but correct me if I'm wrong), yet another reason to completely skip this latest family of gpus even if (like me) you're going for a full rig upgrade soon.
Yep messing with DLSS/DLSSG version results depends on the game.
It can help with performances/ghosting/artefacts for some, but introduce more issues for others.
I would say, don't mess with these until advised to do so
ie. In MSFS 2024, the NVIDIA driver 571.96 with DLSS v310.1 along preset J (which both are the next DLSS4 thingies) shows really promising results regarding artefacts/ghosting and performance.
Official DLSS 4 drivers and files are only 2 days away anyways.
EDIT : Cyberpunk last update already have DLSS v310.1 (AKA DLSS4)

But it has more fake frames. Surely that must be worth the upgrade?
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
People are selling their 4080s left and right for about 1700€ - 1800€. This gap is just too big for 5080 to fill and 5090 is way too expensive for what it delivers in terms of gaming performance. Many AIB cards are already over 3000€.
