Publisher Electronic Arts and developers Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment have announced Star Wars Zero Company, the Star Wars single-player turn-based tactics game first teased in January 2022, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. A release date was not announced.
A full reveal is planned for the “Bit Reactor Developer Panel featuring Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games” panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan on April 19 from 16:30 to 17:30 JST. The panel, hosted by Lucy James, will feature lead developer Bit Reactor, along with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, who will share a world-exclusive first look at Star Wars Zero Company.
Meh. Star Wars games have been meh since Kotor II (2004). Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor were okay but they're light entertainment. The publishers just don't know how to handle the licenses; so many title have either been cancelled or given to developers that aren't up to scratch to develop games of such magnitude.
~Cleaned up the thread a bit and moved the discussion to the Void~
Anyway, judging by the leaked info/screens and the devs' previous experiences, it definitely looks like a Star Wars-themed XCOM - which is fine, I guess, as long as EA doesn't meddle in the dumbing down department even further. [No strong feelings one way or the other]
Xcom 2 wotc is in my top 3 of fav games of all time.
Might be interested if this comes anything near xcom2 in terms of fun/gameplay.
The last game that kinda scratched that itch for me was troubleshooter abandoned children but it is still to different and quality wise lacking.

I really liked Gears Tactics.
Granted, it doesn't have the base management portion, but the tactics part was super fun.
