Out in Early Access !
Content: Chapter 1 playable.
Playtimeof EA: 10-15 hours according to devs.
Price: 27 dollars or 26 Euros for EA atm, price will get a bump after 1.0 release.

Quote:

Now, let's discuss a few things about Early Access in general, how we approach it, and what we're striving for:

This will not be a AAA game.
It's essential to mention this. We are a small indie team with big ambitions in terms of gameplay, story, and general fun-factor, but we are not striving for AAA quality, especially in terms of visuals. Please keep that in mind!

Bugs, problems, balance issues.
Although we've done our best to prepare for Early Access, due to the scope of the game, we're sure you will encounter some bugs and problems. Our team is on standby, so you can expect fixes coming quickly if anything critical appears.

We also recommend saving manually from time to time – and backing up your saves – during your adventures.

Early Access - saves.
The most important thing to note is that if you want to participate in the Early Access adventure, you need to be prepared for the possibility that your saves may be lost at some point with a major patch.

Chapter 1: Horns of the South
In this stage of Early Access you will have a special, smaller price and access to first part of the game - Horns of the South. There is around 10-15 hours of content there!
More will be coming with big patches and will be added for free to the game!

I enjoyed the deckbuilder roguelite set in the same world that they previously released, so I'm looking forward to this one, but will probably wait until it's out of EA.

It looks quite ambitious but if the devs manage to make some sort of Tesco Skyrim with decent writing then I could be interested. Will keep an eye on it, and may the Early Access road be gentle.

i'm not sure how something like this can have an audience, it looks like skyrim (2011) but obviously not with the same talent when it comes to design. Skyrim is a very, very generic looking RPG already (unlike Morrowind). you'd think there would be more unique games to draw inspiration from.

A smaller team should have gone for something like Dark Messiah IMmmmOOOO. More linear and more polish on the mechanics

absolutely, and such a game would have a bigger audience i think.

give the game at least ONE mechanic that is a 9/10 and you have a winner. do a game with many more mechanics but they're 5/10'ish, why would people play this game?

Tried this and it's quite jank (of course).

BUT I liked it, as it shows promise. It will never reach that AAA polish but it's doing some things very nice:

• combat
• truly fantasy environments (vs bland and boring Bethesda)
• some attention to detail

It's worth a try in say... 3-5-7 years, you know... when it's done. Sad

It's bit janky, yes, but it's also fun for some reason. I hope they manage to finish it in 2024, but there's probably little chance of that.

Glad I bought it in the last days of ARS Smile

It's a fun game, just remember save wipes might happen at any point in the EA. It's also steadily being developed.
Cuanacht Rebellion introduced a big area behind the northern gate (no main quest for now), and they're planning a frozen biome next.

Problem is, game looks like shit. I tried the demo, and it was unbearable for me.

Wouldn't say it looks like shit, man. But it DOES look... off.

Environments are sterile, soulless, unnatural, unremarkable etc.

Will probably give the isodemo a try. Perhaps the gameplay will be worth it.

Although the production values don't quite match the idea underneath, the art direction seems pretty intriguing and supposedly, the writing isn't plagued by silly modern deviations, which is always a plus. Here's hoping the 1.0 version planned for this year won't be too much of a rummage of things held with not-so-magical duct tape Razz

I played it for half an hour and after listening to the absolute banger of a theme playing on the title screen, I was surprised by how much better than expected this game was. It does seem like a janky Elder Scrolls clone made by 10 people which seemed to do a lot of things quite well. I stopped playing the demo as I will definitely play the full game when it releases Very Happy

Give the game a chance when it comes out. It's pretty good and gets less and less jankier with every update.

Someone on another forum was recommending this, calling it a scrollslike and hot damn if it isn't that. Pretty fun and long demo, and the game has potential. But...

As stated, version 0.9 consists of a prologue and Chapter 1. Version 1.0 will have additional 2 chapters. So to summarise - No, don't play as content wise it's about 30% only.

Quote:
currently only 1/3 of the game available in its almost final state - so content wise it will likely be the same in the full game. full release is set in may/june. late june is most probable tho

So to those who have played it, is the prologue the material from the demo? And how long is chapter 1?

Chapter one used to be 10-15 hours long in the 0.7 version, but they added stuff in 0.9 so hard to say.
0.7 also had a teaser of chapter 2.

Didn't play the demo, but the prologue starts in the island prison. It makes sense for it to be part of the full game.

Also remember there will be a save wipe when 1.0 hits .

Demo is
 Spoiler:

, hopefully I'll also be able to recycle the save from the demo... or not. Guess I'll DL 0.9 and give it a shot.
Thanks for the reply.

That's the prologue then. But I don't know what version of the game the demo is from. If it's 0.9 then saves might work. Anything below and it's not possible, they really made a lot of changes.

Steam demo save transplanted successfully to the cracled GoG version Very Happy
Odd that gog stores save data on
?:\Users\%%%%%\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\Applications\%%%%%\Storage\Shared\Files\Saved

instead of
?:\Users\%%%%%\AppData\LocalLow\Questline\Fall of Avalon

even while playing without galaxy, but after finding that it was easy enough to do.
