Experience the brutal fusion of galactic strategy and grimdark warfare in Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000. Take command of iconic factions, customise your war machine, and engage in devastating battles as you carve a bloody warpath across the stars.
Command Four Iconic Factions
Lead campaigns across the void with four radically distinct factions, each forged with their own unique array of lore-inspired gameplay features, devastating weaponry, apocalyptic war machines, and methods of warfare.
Space Marines: Genetically enhanced weapons of war, these warriors are few in number but each is the equal of a host of lesser troops. Clad in sacred power armour and wielding deadly weaponry, they are an uncompromising force that strikes with devastating and unyielding precision.
Orks: Brutish hordes of destruction, they are unrelenting, countless and live for war. Storming the battlefield in endless mobs, they brandish unpredictable weapons and clanking war machines.
Aeldari: An ancient and waning alien race, who once ruled the stars, but now find themselves scattered, battling against extinction. Swift and elusive, they strike with psychic precision and elegant weaponry, exploiting weakness before vanishing into shadow.
Astra Militarum: The massed ranks of humanity’s largest fighting force are a bulwark of flesh and steel. Their legions of soldiers' march beneath the roar of battle-tanks and the thunder of artillery, grinding enemies into ruin with disciplined fury and sheer determination.
From the gameplay glimpse seems like the battles are smaller scale, securing outposts like in DoW. Anyways, it's Creative Assembly, the game will be playable maybe 2 years after the release
This makes very little sense as a TW game. What is even "diplomacy" in a 40K?
Who said there's gonna be diplomacy...? Would make zero sense, doubt they're gonna include it. It was omitted in Gladius as well, after all.
So it's just an RTS? What makes it different from DoW? That's not what "Total War" is, but these days, it's a joke anyway. Gods, magic, etc. in the "historical" Total Wars, so why not this
This thread summarizes the lack of understanding what a TW game is supposed to be. "Hurr durr moar units on screen, soe moar bettar tahn puny dawn of war lolzzz"

And, pray tell, what do you base this on? Not getting excited from a single trailer and almost no information, by a company that has produced nothing but shit over the last decade and a half? The last good TW was Shogun 2, and that was what, 2010? They've earned all the skepticism they get. Look at that developer interview. They talk more about army painter than gameplay mechanics. Just because you are fangirling over DLC potential doesn't mean all of us skeptics are "not fans" of the universe (retarded names like "Aeldari" and "Astra Militarum" not withstanding). "Just sayin'."
CA deserve to crash and burn. The sooner, the better.

It won't be a tragedy if no more Total War games are made – definitely not by following the current trend CA has been setting. The series has been stale since Warhammer II, anyway. And the histroy titles way before that.
This game/world might not be for you. Just sayin'.
10 years ago it would have been a dream come true. Now I think it might be too ambitious for current CA. Still really curious how it will turn out in the end...
I too am curious to see how it all turns out. There are numerous red flags, and the introduction of a new engine (albeit necessary and about friggin' time...) foreshadows lots of issues, especially at launch.
At any rate, I'm glad it's being made, and hopefully, they don't fuck it up too badly. I'm looking forward to hearing more details.
where is it said its a new engine? i highly doubt they have the recources for it, remember sega canceled their retarded shooter game they almost went all in on right before it was supposed to launch ....
just gonna be recycled warhammer 3 recources with a space map on top for maximum cash grab before its game over for this dev. creatively bankrupts and zero talent left
So, what’s changed? For starters, we now have Warcore - the next evolution of our game engine. It’s unlike anything we’ve worked with before, offering a bespoke set of new and improved tools across our animation system, to the renderer and campaign building blocks - all designed to bring the medieval era to life in ways we’ve previously never been able to achieve.
evolution ... i dont like the sound of that ... means its still based on firgging empire total war base my friend ... from 2007 with the same siege and ai crap .
it sounds purely cosmetic and nothing touching the actual engine underneath nor ai , gameplay n pathfinding etcetra that are comicly outtdated
Say it ain't so.
Wait until you hear that the Empire engine is based on Medieval 2 engine, which is based on Shogun!
And then wait until you hear about how software development works in the real world!
"offering a bespoke set of new and improved tools across our animation system, to the renderer and campaign building blocks " thats all cosmetic stuff ... not a word about core engine aka still the same shit
anyway i wish i was wrong, but ok lets see about their "development" . i hope im wrong for all the fans, they deserve better but those words are crystal clear on what they worked on ... gfx stuff and a space campaign map using the old underlying total war tech
No "new" engine is a truly new engine; there are portions that are always reused from a previous iteration. What is means for Total War? Who knows, but I take it to believe they have enough new or revamped systems to make the engine feel "new" for their game developers and/or players. Do I believe they can smoothly create new games with a "new" engine when they couldn't with their umpteenth version of the previous engine? Fuck no and of course, rather than developer the "new" engine first, they went and splurged on 40K with it; what could possibly go wrong?
