Bullshit aside, whats the verdict on this? Worth a go?
It's atmospheric (especially the sound design) and the complete lack of guidance is always a plus, but I found the experience rather lacking in terms of cohesive writing and mechanics. The puzzles are mostly on the gimmicky side, with the ̶h̶i̶d̶e̶ ̶&̶ ̶s̶e̶e̶k̶ aim & incapacitate sessions that get old fast because of the exploitable AI. Ultimately, it's a game that does feel like it underwent some reshaping and was meant to be released several years ago.
The heavy "retro" post-processing effects are also excessively distracting, though there are mods on Nexus that help.
I actually finished this one last night.
The ending was a bit anticlimactic but I really enjoyed the journey.
The level of detail is quite impressive and there were some great jump scares that caught me off guard!
I got stumped by some puzzles from time to time and lost in some of the more sprawling areas but I figured it out.
Having it watched the credits roll, it was made by a pretty small team and probably why it took so long to release.
Worth a playthrough though in my opinion.
