Definitely feels like Walter Scott's Ivanhoe.
Since not much supernatural componenent is expected according to the novels this show is based upon, this resemblance will persist.
People defending the short runtime because it was adapted from novellas which are obviously short stories and therefore less material to work with.
I guess that’s true but when you’re used to at least 50 minutes after The Game of Thrones and The House of the Drsgon episodes, it’s rather disappointing :/
Short as it may be, what is there is really solid. I loved it, but I was also really annoyed when it ended cause I just wanted more. I expected I was about at the half-point of the episode, and I was spot on... if this were a normal length. Honestly, this is one of those series where I wished they released the whole season.
i do reckon he would get so much shit for being bald, and people would stare and ask him about it, but there's nothing which feels off. This is a very brutal and often hateful world, him being a kid would not exclude him.
also, dont read up why he shaves his head bald, major spoiler lol. though, made me more interested in him..
Again, a solid enough episode, but really I don't know... it's just dragging a bit with having to wait a week after a 30 min episode. This was likely the correct way to release it, to gain traction, but I would have just rather had a 3 hour movie.
Also, I mean... even as someone who didn't read the book, everything about Egg was fucking obvious, pretty much spelled out for you, and yet they treat it like a big reveal? Like ok...
And in general the ending of the episode and the whole "triggering incident" were kind of contrived for me, so I don't know... It's not the biggest deal, it's just a bit disappointing.
