using pr0tst0p and DT 4.06HE, game runs fine. Haven't installed patch, though. I'm also running at 1440x900 all maxed out and looks quite smooth. Graphics are cool Smile

does a game always have to look good?

isn't the gameplay the important factor? baldurs gate 2 doesn't look all that nice, but I still play it!

YES! its fracking 2006 going on 7, so again YEA! sure it does!. And don't come with the ol "game play the important factor" yeeeees!. You think they would play 1999 games at the holodeck in Voyager? answer is NO!

I finally installed and updated the game without any problems Smile.Works fine using Pr0t.Stop and nwnmain.exe.

First impressions so far is that the graphics don't seem to be like in the screenshots.I'm running with pretty much everything on high except for the shadows and it doesn't look as good as the screens but personally i could care less. The game runs very decently on my 1 gig , 6800 GT 256 mb and that's quite a pleasant surprise since i was convinced that it would run poorly. It's much MUCH smoother than Bugthic III Smile .

As far as the gameplay goes , i haven't played enough to form an opinion yet but it look a lot like nwn 1 with a few changes added. That's not a bad thing as far as i'm concerned.I will try to update this post with more information after a few more hours of play.

I like it so far Cool

P.S : I'm going the evil sorcerer route Twisted Evil

I still enjoy Might and Magic 6 despite its graphics and I also play Bards Tale 1 on amiga from time to time...I have no problem with games having abit older graphics - unless the graphics are anoying as in badly made or similar.

edit: actually, I play still alot of c64 games...so it wouldnt suprise me if they played 1999 games on Voyager Smile

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

whats the year got to do with a great game with great gameplay??
I'd rather have an amazing gameplay experience and lacklustre gfx than a game like oblivion all gfx no gameplay crap where u get bored after 20-30 hrs.

There's been alot of hype surrounding Gears of War but i dont see anything special about that game. It looks like a generic run and gun 3rd person shooter. Its got amazing, shiny gfx tho Razz
True i dont have a x360 yet but there isnt any game on the console that makes me want to get one so far.

I can't wait to actually get stuck into NWN2. It looks and plays much more immersive than NWN1.NWN2 reminds me of the DS2 environments. Thats what gfx should be used for. To create an immersive atmosphere and not just for the sake of the game so the devs can brag how many "next-gen" textures they used for x360 blah blah blah.

you ARE wrong. the worst thing is when devs only focus on the latest technologies in gfx and shaders and whatever. if the game design, the idea, the layout and other factors are left out, you have an empty shell. a picture.

a game has to be enthralling, making you want to play more and more and more and "i just HAVE to see what's beyond that hill!!!"

so many new games are... soulless, in lack of a better word. I don't care if it's 2006 or 1996 or 2016. if a game only looks good; its nothing.

does anyone know what the yasu.exe is for in the /tools dir?

I cant get the game to work still, have tried any possible combination of pr0t.stop, securom loader and dt4 I can think of, but I get the Emulation detected error every time.

Game is fun, no doubt about it. Not for everyone, though.

Do you have blindwrite installed? I recall that being an issue. If so maybe try uninstalling blindwrite and any other emulation software besides what is needed from the nfo.

He he...well its your time, and your time alone you spend there. If you wanna play some crappy looking game just cause ur a fan boy, be my guest. WTF is wrong with GREAT game play and GREAT graphics? SC and HL2 are great examples of that....that's all I am saying. if the Devs are not up to it...well....competition is stiff. But as you don't pay for it you don't really care, like me Wink I only pointed out that in this day and age one HAS! to expect a bit more compared 2-3 years ago...that's all.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with BOTH nice gfx and great gameplay.

but when devs focus on only gfx, somethings wrong.

No, no other emulation software installed, and no blindwrite either.

You don't have to be level 20 to be a prestige class. Level 20+ is epic, not prestige.
