Yeah I watched it a couple of days ago. Very good movie and original.
Wanted to ask you something though

speaking of which, you should definitely try Papillon http://imdb.com/title/tt0070511/ with Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen. Another 9 or 10/10 classic.
And Shawshank R will seem (just a lil' bit) to be a ripoff )

I was debating that myself. |
Spoiler: | I agree with Bitching, that the fantasy was her form of escapism, and happened all in her mind. There are several plot points that don't make sense unless this is the case |

Watched a lot of movies lately.
Watched the good old westerns with Clint Eastwood ending wth "Unforgiven" of course.
Fistful of dollars,For a few dollars more,Hang em high,Joe Kidd,Otlaw Josey Wales,Two mules for sister Sara.
I'd rate em all 6/10.As I like westerns with Clint.
Unforgiven is a masterpiece 8/10
Illusionist 7/10.I wonder how Jessica Biel got the role, and frankly he did quite good in that one.Thou I still think she is not fit for the role, and another female actresses would have performed better.Eduard Norton as always was brilliant.
Prestige 8/10 Great movie,great script,great actors.What else to say.
Pan's labyrinth 9/10.Gave it 9 since it's obvious the movie is very original in its conception of blending uncovered cruelty, fairy tales, romance and anti-fascists ideas.
It managed to move me to a certain extent - thus 9/10

This is an interview with Del Toro regarding the Pan's Labyrinth.
Spoiler: |
Quote: |
MG: I'm glad to hear you say that. This is the dispute going on among people who have seen your film. Was Ofelia in her fantasy world? Was it a real world? I keep saying such questions pose a false dichotomy.
Del Toro: Yes, of course. And it's intimate. If the movie works as a piece of storytelling, as a piece of artistic creation, it should tell something different to everyone. It should be a matter of personal discussion. Now objectively, the way I structured it, there are three clues in the movie that tell you where I stand. I stand in that it's real. The most important clues are the flower at the end, and the fact that there's no way other than the chalk door to get from the attic to the Captain's office.

Thanks for the link,Clevesa. But don't forget this:
Spoiler: | Quote: | Del Toro: Objectively, those two clues tell you it's real. The third clue is she's running away from her stepfather, she reaches a dead end, by the time he shows up she's not there. Because the walls open for her. So sorry, there are clues that tell you where I stand and I stand by the fantasy. Those are objective things if you want. The film is a Rorschach test of where people stand. |

The Great Escape, eh? I like it too, the only thing which bothers me is that the germans are played by americans who speak "gebrokkent" german in a very funny way (but that was unfortunately very typical in american movies until the 90s when it started to change)
