Well it's quite demanding for sure. It's in a few other 360 games aswell, only one I can remember at the moment is Dead Rising. We'll probably start seeing it more often now the hardware can manage it.

But the deal is, with motion blur high framerates are obsolete... You don't need 50-60+ to feel fluid anymore.

I am sure the demo is just very unoptimized and raw. Final game can run at least 2 times faster if they put some more time to optimize the code (which i heard they are going to do)

And much better drivers from nVidia, lets not forget...
Isn't it time they started optimizing?

no one loves a smart ass dude , and the dx10 is only used in this game for the shadows and bump mapping (making the textures look more real) and thats it ... |
Jeez, where have we gotten.. A noob explains to me what bump mapping is...
First, dude, what DX10 brings to this game is called displacement mapping, so next time you try to explain something at least get your facts straight. Normal and bump mapping has been used since DX8.
Second, google "DX10" and "Shader Model 4.0" to see what exactly it has to offer.
Once you do that and you feel smart, then come here and try to talk about smart ass dudes. Pfft...

I think you have proven my point (you being a noob) with that last post, thanks!
PS. I never call someone a noob based on his post count. I base it on level of intelligence and level of questions he has asked.

Everything can be done with software rendering as well. That's what offline renderers do. However, with the geometry shader added in DX10, it is doable online with reasonable framerates. Up until now it has always been called virtual displacement mapping, and for good reason.

Works very well here despite the dumb drivers...
How would you know though? You wanted to buy a 8800 320MB...

I just installed windows vista to try this game and in performance test I average 12 fps on max settings(with x8 AA) at res 1600x1200, I suppose this is normal?
My specs:
8800GTX with Lost planet drivers
E6600 OCed to 3ghz
2Gb ram
What a shitty performance

It is for this game. Guy over at another forum has two ultras and has the same frame rates, SLI does nothing. Its a poorly optimized game period.

Vista and Dx10 is bogus anyway... ive seen comparison screens off dx9 and 10 and i didnt notice any difference at all, except for the shit fps on the vista computer.

Real displacement mapping is not used in games. Either there is Normal mapping, parralax mapping (aka virtual displacement mapping). In newer games, (SM3.0) there is a function which is called "Vertex texture fetch" and uses a texture to displace real geometry. Although this is not really displacement mapping either.
With DX10. The geometry shader can actually create and modify real geometry, which will make displacement mapping a faster and more used function in coming games.

UE3 supports it, so expect to see it soon (if it wasn't already used in GoW?)

Fyi, Sad-persona is Hfric, don't expect anything other than bullshit from him, he's been banned from the site multiple times and still he comes back, he is indeed a sad person.
