I was using nod32 and I caught a virus on my pc, cuz nod32 didn´t detect shit!!
The main reason I was using it is that nod32 is the less resource consumer AV.
But if it doesn´t protect you as it should, fuck it.
Using Kaspersky now! And cleaned a whole list of virus that were present because of NOD32.

I'm curious which Kaspersky they used in that reviewing, if you use the internet security it does in fact have a registry watcher under the "proactive defense" system.
The Kaspersky net security (using 6) also uses a web AV (as does nod) and also includes a firewall, antispam, registry watcher, application activity analyser, application integrity control etc, sounds a bit bloated but hell, I don't even know the program is running unless im personally scanning my comptuer which I don't ever have to use since the web AV and mail AV automatically catch and block any infections comming in or out.
as for mcafee beating kaspersky...that's....lmao. Hell I'd trust symantec before I'd trust mcafee, theres no way in hell even mcafee could beat NOD.
As it stands, as of I know from experience as well as reputation, if your not happy with NOD, go with Kaspersky, if your not happy with kaspersky..go with NOD, otherwise...install norton.

eat my memory and cpu, crash the machine, won't shut down or uninstall for shit
and just plain won't do what i want them to, when i want them to
they're designed to cut the user out of the loop whenever possible, as they 'know better'
which is not what i want from software that's supposed to be looking after my computer from outside threats

Oddly that happened to me with Symentec, I went to uninstall it then the uninstaller locked up so when I went to restart it was still trying to run half functionally and started popping up errors, so I tried to uninstall it again and it couldn't find the folder even though half of it was still in the original location so I deleted it and all registry's of symantec, restarted, still was trying to run then after a few minutes of running I would get the blue hardware failure screen. Reformatted my HD, reinstalled windows and still had the CRC errors and was getting the blue screen. Fuckin uninstallation damaged my whole HD just from trying to uninstall.

well that wasnt to hard to find, was it.....just click on the review and you get this page:
http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/kaspersky-review.html
But for the people here that have vista installed like myself, i had quite a few problems with kaspersky 6 and windows vista ultimate 32bit. it just wasnt going smooth and kaspersky was taking a long time to boot, it was just slowing down my machine. and we all know, vista aint a speed devil, so if a program fucks up the speed of your OS wich is already fucked up. then you should reconcider, if you want to keep kasperky 6.
But after deinstalling and installing Kaspersky 7, it was just great. no problems here anymore what so ever.^^

KAV7 and KIV7 are both supposed to be less resource intensive than the 6's but that was read by other members on another forum. Though I'm sure their prob right. I don't even notice KAV as it is.

I use NOD32 as is one of the best, but many people do not understand that signature file has to be daily updated and some s basically settings is needed.
Norman AV is trash, stay away from Norman.

havent tried nod32 for a while now and am running a legit version of kis6 and now 7 for a while and on my system the windows startup time is annoyingly long (with 6 and 7). Scans are slow, if you do a full system scan. BUT Kaspersky usually catches everything. With the proactive defenses module on, even more than it sometimes should, as it asks for a lot of permissions for programs that behave similar to virii but are harmless (like my logitech keyboard-driver)

NOD32 catches all viruses as well. It is not, however, anti-spyware tool, so it won't catch that.

N/P If your not a fan of Kaspersky then your a fan of nod32, and vice versa. Their both the best 2 around but I personally am a fanboy of Kaspersky as it includes a lot mroe protection in the software such as the anti spy and shit.

the german kaspersky website has kis7 linked just like the regular version 6 and doesnt say anything about it being a beta. A german tech-news-website even stated that it was the newest official build, some time ago, so i switched to v7. Perhaps there is a difference between the Internet-Security suite and the Anti-Virus standalone version?

Anyway, ESS 3.0 from ESET is coming out soon

You know you can buy it and get the 2.7 version? Most of you probably just got the 2.5 version, with the trail version?

Haven't used an AV for 3 years since all of them I tried gave me false positives on files I was dealing with, making it impossible for me to work. Haven't gotten infected since (once a month I install an AV, do full system scan, then uninstall). Just don't download dodgy stuff, and if you have to just scan it with the online scan stuff.
