there is everything wrong with css
It's the same old retired gameplay with nothing new and exciting. The graphics are there, granted. The physics are there, granted. But that's all. It was meant to be revolutionary, valve said it! It was supposed to have new things! people were able to use the full extend of the source engine in an online world. And so far that hasn't been accomplished.
and since this is the only online component it will only appeal to those hardcore addicts of counter-strike. Those who hate it will not be pleased with what they get.
I have played the original counter-strike for quite some time and when i was introduced to what the source engine will bring i was excited. When i sat through the whole 10 minute interview with cs: source division and heard of the all new features I almost blew a nut.
And in the beta i didn't care about the shitty net code, about the fualty hit boxes, irregularities with the physics and guns being stronger and stronger than ever but these things haven’t improved in the final and OH GET THIS! HOSTAGES WEAR INVISIBLE HEAD SHIELDS!
There are a lot of things that need to be fixed and i will get flamed for not seeing the awesomeness of cs: source. But i don't care... valve let me down. They made promises they did not keep. THey made a buzz that ended up being nothing great.
cs: source hate it or love but you better love it cause after you beat half life 2 in a week there’ll be nothing better than going off against your buddies in a wholesome game of counter-strike.
Would have been awesome if death match came out… and don’t whine saying that in weeks mods will come out that will expand this game. And I say this how long did it take counter-strike to reach the final 1.6 stage? How long did it take dod to become great? Not in week or a month. It took some time. And converting maps into the source engine will have lots of hit and misses. Re-aligning the lighting, re mapping some areas and adding beer bottles, tired and other interactive items that would complete the online experience.

Your right... CS:S isnt revolutionary beyond that its the first game to have a full physics engine implemented in multiplayer. I dont remember them saying that it was going to be revolutionary, only that HL2 was. As far as I can remember it was supposed to be the same old half life ported over to the new engine.
I also dont see anything wrong with the netcode or the hitboxes... everything seems to be running fine on my comp with no problems or lag. Maybe your troubles are from your side and not server side. Hit boxes were a problem before but they seemed to have fixed that several patches ago.
The invisible helmet thing is kinda weird but a whole game shouldnt be disregarded as trash for such a simple and easily fixed "problem". And of course if you didnt like the originial CS you wont like CS:S... Because nothing changed other than the engine. The gameplay is still there and that is why I love it so.

I assume it includes all previously released Valve games available on steam. Such as HL1, CS, OppFor and others. Not sure if it includes CS:CZ or not

I see no reason why someone should purchase this game through Steam. Do you get boxes and manuals in the mail or what?
Fucking Valve needs some PR work.

Probably in pdf format or something. Also, you get the game pretty much instantly without leaving your house. Sounds like a good way to combat piracy if you ask me.
I think loads of people will buy it through Steam although no doubt millions will bitch about it for no reason other than they hate Valve.

dude i have boxes of games all over the place its a frigging mess at my computer..i dont need any more god damn boxes laying around. and what the hell do you need the manual for? its the same as every other FPS out there you aim with your mouse and shoot stuff. and on top of that you get a manual in web/pdf format. unless your some kind of homo who likes to collect boxes and manuals and such go to the store and buy it when it comes out...and while you wait for that day i will be enjoying cs source with all the other smart people who realize the same.

Hmm I'm not sure I've followed correctly...are there any more phases to be preloaded? When I'm looking at my HL2 'preloading status' its showing a slightly different message now: "preloading completed, you'll be able to play the game immediately once its officially released." So that means now all is left to do is waiting for the game to hit the shelfes? :-S

the hostages just follow you like before...the only objects you can interact with are metal barrels which will roll around ...wooden barrles which will break... and random garbage like milk cartons/crates/etc that can be knocked around. not a whole lot. Oh yeah and chairs...theres a couple chairs that you can shoot apart. uhh thats about it...no wait theres bananas in italy you can hit twice before they dissapear.

Holy fuck..relax brother..did I insult poor little Valve in any way?? Go off and honk on Gabe some more. You won't get the game any faster than when it's released in the store num nuts. Why download it when you can buy it. What happens when you have to reinstall? You have to download the whole thing over again?..You won't be even able to download it when it's released because their servers will be flooded, so when you're sitting on your comp trying to download the thing, I'll run to the store and pick it up.

i know, its bout time all this bickering about valve and shit needs to stop.
I really dont think pc gamer can give out higher than 98 percent, because even when they have a really good game they usually pull some bs excuse to give it a few points lower, although 98 percent sounds about right. Think alpha centuri got 97 so maybe hl2 is the highest rated score every for thier mag... correct me if im wrong.
