@ loser above
Get over that "shitty rig" bullcrap already. I installed it on a friend of mine (core 2 duo 6600, 2 gigs ram, 7950gt) with the 1.12 patch but without any config optimisations. It stuttered a lot.
Guess those config optimisations are necessary to fix the stupidity of the developers (even after the patch) That's because it's a buggy game.

As you can see they did change the memory related settings somewhat with the 1.3.1 community patch but I'd recommend that you don't install that INI and instead configure it yourself either by manual notepad/wordpad editing or using a tool such as the Gothic Tuning Utility.
http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/showthread.php?t=165717
(Defaults to german language but can be set to english language if needed.)
The utility can adjust any of the important settings in either the player INI or the game INI and isn't that difficult to use as long as you understand the settings you are altering.
(Modifying the cache seems quite effective for some reason so try to increase it to reach a more balanced memory usage.)

Ditto with this. Tried the game recently on my current rig(mistakenly assuming full-patched it should run like silk) and STILL had moments where the game would start chugging, enough to piss me off and stop playing. I am sure if I went crazy on the INI file I could get acceptable performance, but at this point everything should be fixed via patches. And I run COH nearly maxed on dx10 at 19x12 resolution. So yeah shitty rig comments are just a poor defense of a rushed game not properly supported.

So guys community patch 1.5 is out fixing a lot of previous issues but raising another one - how on Earth are we supposed to run the game?
The no-cd crack for 1.12 doesn't work due to the community patch messing with the executable sooo I'm asking for your help in this matter.

did you tried to mount the clonedvd and use some tools to hide the emulation?
I haven't lost my mind. I know exactly where I left it.

No I didn't because I have no idea which tools I should use. I have daemon tools 4.10 (it's the latest version, right?) but the protection still prevents me from running the game.
What else should I do?
I saw in www.gamecopyworld.com something about burning the game on DVD but I haven't got a DVD to spare at the moment and besides I already have the game on a DVD.

there was a method for running the game without the crack using VirtualCD. It was pretty messy, and I can't remember the exact procedure, but you need the VCD image, some modified VCD file to replace some file from the original VCD image, and then you can try mounting that, and running the game. There's about 50% chance the loader will freeze so you have to keep trying.

Ah, it is the only way then?
I suppose there is no chance that we would see a crack for this community patch?

Yes it does.

Yes, you're right, but the 1.5 community patch readme is quite impressive. Above all, one thing cought my eye - "slightly improved memory usage" which means there would be no sluttering anymore, I guess.

Yeah, I bought Gothic 2 gold because they fixed the game and made it playable with the expansion pack. This POS that has little hope of ever becoming playable has to be pretty damn cheap for me to buy it. I hate supporting Jowood's shovelware. Shit even EA games get patches a few monthes, sometimes a yr down the road. This thing only got a couple that were like a bandaid on a gaping wound.
