I am in love. The first few stages get you hooked and designing the ultimate ground vehicle was so much fun... As excalibur said though, if you don't like customization, this game will NOT be for you.

Hmmm, no not really. It'd be like designing the body kits and building the engine.

This game seems to be cooked, this means there won't be a modding community outside of what EA wants with the ingame editors. No outside adding of stuff like new textures etc.

Well, I think it was a 100% guaranteed to be 'cooked' given that it has such online integration. Imagine someone puts a porn texture. Once it's out, it's an outbreak, EA can't manage it.

There where a lot of cockasuruses around made with the editor so surely they can make them again.

It just doesen't work that way. You can't just add some textures for online games and then everyone can see it.

Yes, if you add a texture it will only be shown on your screen as is defined in the game what texture is on what.

You don't need custom textures to make a cockasaurus in Spore.

I was replaying to leo. Yea you can make cockasaruses but they won't work online, because ea checks each creature and doesn't allow vulgar creatures.

LOL, no they don't. There will be tens of thousands of creatures uploaded every single day. You really think they're going to pay for a ton of people to sit around and sort through them all day?

They can probably create a filter that kills every creature that has a long thingy with a bigger then long thing at the top of the long end or something like that.

Yeah, I mean really, that is the make or break thing for this game. Customization. Personally, I don't want to have to design every unit. I want the depth, it was like the unit customization in Galactic Civilizations 2. That part of the game destroyed the rest of it for me as you had no choice but to design a custom unit for ship designs. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's simply a matter of taste.
Fortunately, Maxis provided a large number of good looking, pre-fabs that you can choose from when your designing, so that's not so much of a problem here.
I would definately say that the Space period is the deepest portion of the game. Unless I'm mistaken, there is thousands of star systems to visit and you could theortically colonize every planet. Though the micromanagement required to colonize a planet is pure insanity. You have to literally transport animals and plants one at a time from planet to planet. I have no idea why they did that or what purpose that serves, other then to be a major headache.

Quick question for anyone who's playing it right now, how's the optimization and framerate? I'm not really that much into this one but I wanna install it on my cousin's PC (cutest little bugger), and he's got a 2005-6'ish setup so I want your thoughts on whether he'd be able to run it properly...
And another thing, I don't wanna mess the poor kid up -- d'ya think it's safe for an 11 y/o to play this one?
Blame! don't act!

How can I rezise parts without using my mouse wheel?
My mouse wheel is fucked,
So now it will take 5 minutes to rezise an individual part.
btw, this game runs great @ maxed settings MORPHINEUS,
The only thing thats dated is my GPU tho.
