The mini-games get in the way and make customization a pain in the ass. End-game in spore is looking at other people's creations. Its just an interface for viewing whats in the Sporepedia. This is not a game.

I, myself, am enjoying this game. Exactly how I thought it would be.

I guess Wright was right (yeah I know..) : the game was so hyped people thought it would be the messiah.
Although I really didn't think it would change the face of the world, I still think the game is great. Sure it has flaws, but at least the guy tried to make a fresh game.. Not some FPS and this is what I like about it... It's like breeze and it's good

Look at the older videos from 2005/06 the game had a lot more depth then, obviously it was dumbed down by EA to fit into their "Games for Everyone" marketing.
In the older videos the skeletons were a lot more versatile and you could easily manipulate various bones.
The possibilities seemed almost unlimited but were no doubt taken out to easily sell people new "specialized" parts in micro transactions, as it is EA afterall. I think if it had been any other company the game would've had more depth but lacking in polish.

the worst thing is that they will sell millions.. like they did with sims and all the expansions!
but the problem is with the people that support this stuff..

It's possible they were initially too ambitious and had to simplify proceedings in order to get a product out.

Tried a little experiment with the Cell-> Creature transition. Instead of altering my creature by giving him legs, I left it as is, so crawl onto land. Honestly, the flow was much better leading into your first evolution. I'll probably play it that way from now on. Shame I can't mod that transition out. It was actually an interesting experience as a herbivore, hunting down low laying bushes to get fruit. Put me in a bad spot a few times with aggressive creatures.
Also, flying > everything. I fucking love the way they implemented it.
Space is too big! Trying to manage more than 3 planets is cumbersome. Esspecially trying to keep track of terraforming req's per planet. I wish the game had a built in notepad so I can log which planets need what and where I found them. Unfortunately the Pedia doesn't list creatures/plants by Terrascore
EA/Maxis: I want my goddamn Planetary Defense Editor!
There's been so many "OMG" moments in this for me. The best so far has been exploring planets and finding one inhabited, and watching AI creatures go from tribal to civ stage, helping one of them, hoping that they'll remember my aid in their wars. I doubt it, but just seeing planets in different stages of evolution has been awesome.
Pet peeves:
-Not being able to pick Omnivore from the start
-attack/social/mobility values don't stack, defeating the purpose of unique creatures. No point in using anything but the best of any given item. Why was this changed?????? I understand balance, but why not put hard caps in at each brain level? that way you can use 3 level 1 claws or 1 level 3 claws for the same effect, and be able to really design your creature.
-why can't i resize textures in the paint editor by scrolling the mousewheel? and for that matter why do they all suck? None of them tile or look right when painted on.
-the mount points for space ship engines make no sense at all. How the hell do I get them to attach to the side instead of the rear? Same with the military guns. What. The. Fuck.
There's a few more design decisions that rub me the wrong way, but those are the main ones.
i can has computar?!

that's because there is no terrascore for creatures. When it says your terrascore is too low it means that the planet can only support x herbavore x carnivore/omnivore. The individual creatures themselves don't matter.

At first I thought it was a great game...after a couple of hours I realised it's boring, ugly and stupid.

I have to apologise to AnimalMother here for saying this game was everything it's not and hyping it up to him. It was a first impression of the game, and obviously rather wrong.

How can you be a fan of previews, you can't judge something you haven't played.

been playing Spore for a day or two and i must say its possibly the most shallow gameplay ive ever experienced. And Yes im up to the space stage.
A Day in the life of playing Spore
Eat, Eat, Eat, Evolve
Kill, Kill, Kill, Evolve
Dance, Dance, Revolution (sorry Evolve)
and that's pretty much it. The Creature Creator is possibly the best part of the game but once you've passed that certain stage its just clothes and addons. After all the delays EA has done what they do best, watered down and kiddified the gameplay to the intelligence of a spastic syphillis ridden monkey. I never thought this would feel as immature as playing the sims, i mean i had fun in the sims for a while, but once i got bored of locking them in the bathroom with no toilet it got a bit old. Surpirisingly they managed to kiddyfy this game even more to the point where it feels like im playing barbies horse adventure.
