Did anyone see it yet? Is it as cropped as ep. no 1? If yes, i'm gonna dl the x264 version...

BTW. Actor who played Lem (Kenny Johnson) reminds of Dexter Holland - singer/rhythm guitar from The Offspring. He ain't his double but...i guess the haircut does it Laughing

Won't be getting much out of it in HD anyway. Shield is filmed using the gritty style and look that HD won't help at all. I watched last week's episode on FXHD and saw no improvement.

Fuck me running!! Only two eps of the new season for now and it's already fucking amazing! Can't wait for more - i even forced myself to watch it without subtitles and it wasn't that bad. Guess i'm addicted to subs, gunna have to change that habit.

PS. Funny thing - Mackey's daughter (and real-life daughter) always (i mean - in previous seasons) looked like a boy, but lately she looks more like a girl Very Happy Just a thought Very Happy

The ending really struck me...

In my opinion this show is the best around right now...along with Sons Of Anarchy and Californication.

Yeah, we tend to like Vic Mackey, but after hearing him talking about all he has done it makes you feel that he really is a prick.

Loved that scene

EDIT: Iยดm going to try Sons Of Anarchy. I wanted to watch a new show

Then i recommend SOA cause it feels like a similar show in terms of action/drama mixture. Plus Ron Perlman, evil witch Peggy Bundy Very Happy and the main hero which acts like a badass white playa (Charlie Hunnam, had a small role in Children Of Men). Highly recommended show!

Not really.
Best way it could end imo.

Anything else would've been unrealistic or over the top.

Wow. Just wow. My all time favorite TV show. Without even a close comparison. And it ended in the perfect way.

The good guys aren't always good, the baddest guys don't always get caught and you can never trust what you believe.

 Spoiler:

Mighty powerful storytelling, and I think I must get the DVD's to watch them all again.

It's a pity he's not making another deep show. The Unit is OK, but it's not a patch on The Shield. And I don't think it's really meant to be, it's light entertainment. Perhaps he doesn't find it any easier to live with his characters than we do?

There will never be another show quite like it.

If you haven't watched The Shield go out now and download series 1. Start from the begginning and go all the way through. You life will be sucked up for a while but it's worth it and the only way to get the best out of The Shield.

If you've watched part of series 4 or some such and didn't quite get into it try again. Unless you get the character development it really doesn't impact you as it should.

There's been episodes all through, not just the finale, where hours afterwards you're still questioning what you believe and juggling your moral values.

+99999999 Totally true.
Also, through all the seasons i thought of Mackey as a RATHER good guy with flaws but like i wrote in some recent post - when he confessed his sins to Olivia it was really striking.

Too bad the series has ended Sad It was THE show i was waiting for all week dammit. Still i have the whole 7th season to watch again, and i didn't see the finale yet! Very Happy Yay for me.

The Unit is good, Sons Of Anarchy is awesome (but not as good asThe Shield ofkoz) and they have the same producer right (Shawn Ryan)? Or is there more of the same film crew?

Anyway, can't wait till i get home today to watch the finale! Yaaaaaay! Very Happy

The Shield is/was such a damn amazing series that I doubt that there will be any cop series anywhere near now that can even come close to match it. The way the characters have developed over time is just amazing, and at the seventh season you just see how everything just leads to where it was bound to.

And now for (maybe) some controverse, I think that The Shield is a lot better than The Wire in terms of entertainment and creating intensity and tension. The Wire might win the authenticity prize, but even that in many regards can be disputed when you look at the great many moments where The Shield could've gone a less realistic path, and instead turned into the hard cold reality.

The Shield has some of the best damn developed characters of any series, and it shows. At season 7, it's almost that you could just throw the script out the door just to watch the natural interactions between the characters, because of how solid they are; they just would create those moments that would drive this forward. Maybe with the exception of Aceveda, who I think turned out to be more bland (which probably is why he was sidelined).

The Shield never shied from being politically incorrect, and always rather would depict the truth regardless of what that might be. Big ass kudos for doing that in a world where Disney-morality is forced upon viewers with dogma and indiscretion.

I'm gonna miss watching Vic Mackey's 100% solid plans and their execution, and I'm gonna be comparing the solidity of this series to everything I watch. Which makes for a lot of disappointment, really. Because this is 5/5, no doubt.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

The Wire, NYPD Blue, Homicide: Life on the Street to name a few. The Shield is not bad, but certainly nowhere near as good as the shows I mentioned.

In every topic i can imagine i didn't agree even once with Dominae but i do on this one. The Shield is definitely better IMO, but The Wire is great too. Fuck, i'll miss The Strike Team blues Sad

About the finale of The Shield...if you ask me the "open" ending, i think it meant

I'm not sure why people keep seeing Ronnie as one of teh more innocent ones.

We never saw a moment of moral dilemna from Ronnie.

When anyone was needing to die he had little hesitation about agreeing to it. Sometimes even more readily than Vic. A part of me thinks he hid behind Vic but he was just as bad as him, if we'd seen more of his inner workings.

He had no concience or care for anyone other than himself and fellow strike teammembers, from what we saw of him.

Maybe, you're right. He followed Vic without hesitation, he also voted for robbing the money train. I guess that i thought of him as the "poor little one" because he is more quiet than the rest and made less appearances in total (except the last season of course).

Still i recall his small role (David Rees Sneel) in the last episode of The Unit. Somehow i couldn't shake the "Ronnie, Strike Team member" tag off of him.

so I started watching this a little while ago (last few seasons) and have now finished it, holy shit I never thought i'd see a series that was on par with The Wire but this really is it. I'm not saying that in hype or anything I honestly believe it is.

The first 2 seasons (the ones I watched when I posted my first troll post in this thread) certainly aren't as good as the rest but once you get to the end of season 2 and into season 3 shit kicks off big time and you slowly watch their world crumble, it's fucking genius.

watching the strike team go through the first few seasons as kings of the world and then suddenly watching their world fall apart was done so perfectly it was almost like shakespeare!

all i can say at the final is fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk me

I think The Shield only became good after Season 5, especially with Forest Whitaker's character. Season 6 was OK, but 7 was again good.

I like the first seasons but its true that when the money train came into the picture and the whole "fight-not-to-go-to-fucking-prison thing (more action and more dramatic resolves), the show became excellent. In my book, The Shield is slightly better than The Wire because there is more action in it, and thats what im into.
Those two tv shows fucking rule and are standing against most of the movies today with no or shitty acting and fucked up plots.
