Hey guys, I'm doing this rendering at the moment and just wanted to get some feedback on what I could do better and stuff. The render settings (gi and so on) are on the lowest settings, so the shadows may look grainy and the books look like shit Smile

My main focus was on the TV furniture.

Thats the TV furniture rotator.

From the other side (it's 360° rotateable).

And here with a TV mounted on.

The whole scenery (yeah it's too clean and practically empty).

Higher resolution version from the first one.

PS: I am new to C4D, so don't bash me to hard Smile

are the textures integrated in the program or do you get them somewhere else?
(never touched a 3D program before)

I used google to find the floor texture and book covers. But you still need to adjust the pictures for your needs. On the other hand, most 3D programs have some textures with them.

Did you model that yourself or have you taken someone elses models, etc. ?

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

I modeled everything by myself. (ok wait the guy on the pic is zorro but I shopped it Laughing )

The tv furniture is an actual product, which is going to be sold on various ebayesque sites and I'll earn a part of the income :]

Looks pretty good to me. You got the reflection in the wooden floor pretty much spot on (thought it was a photo at 1st )

I know from work that especially shadows can be a bitch, we render cars and car interiors, and especially interiors are really hard. Normally we have many light sources, cause if you just use one (simulating the sun) there is always some area that gets to dark etc.

What software do you use there?
At work we use Alias and Hypershot

Examples using Hypershot

LINK TO HYPERSHOT

The thing with hypershot is that its very fast, and it has a very simple and fluid interface. It also updates/previews real time when you change shaders etc.

Of course HS is only a render engine, you need to do the modeling in another app like 3DS Max, Maya or the like

There is a free trial version in that link above if you want to check it out.

I think there is even a "free" version out there...if you look around Wink.

I am using Cinema4D. And it's global illumination is helping me with the "dark" spots Smile It's still hard to achive good lightning Sad Modeling is fun, but the lightning is a real pain in the ass...

Sometimes it's a good idea to place the thing you want to render inside a box with a selfillumnating material. C4D computes the shadows and stuff with global illumination which looks pretty awesome Very Happy

If I would have selected better gi settings, the pics would look better, because the fine shadows would look better and darker.

Hypershot looks good! Thx Cox!

Materials on the TV furniture thingy is to clean and simple.
Needs something more, because right now somethings not right.
It looks great and all that, but it could be even better.

Other than that, great work Smile

That's a photo of the TV furniture. I don't know what I could do except adding 1-2% reflection to the not-so-shiny parts :/ Any tip?

mm, ~2% more reflection might work.
Also I think some more objects in the room will help a bit too.

Getting the lighting correct on final renders is really hard :\

Awesome pump Smile

But the one thing I'd say you should change is the view u use like 3 times...let me check what options the view is on.....4,6 and 7. Same views. Its repetitive ya know?

But the plasma animation thing is fuckin cool Smile

I used to do flash myself. Way back when it first came out. Cant do shit anymore, but I was pretty good at it. Created a music webpage with flash back in...99 or something like that. Whenever the first edition of macromedia's flash came out

Make so that when you click a part of the screen it zooms in there.

Like if I clicked the DVD-unit, it zooms in there.

ok Smile I'll make hotspots. When you're on a hotspot the corresponding menupart will be highlighted and vice versa. The animation is at 970kb at the moment and thats the only reason why I haven't used different views. But you're right, it would look definitly better. Gracias Smile

I know what you mean, its bad enough with 5 cats and a kid around ones feet Very Happy

I keep my hand in as often as I can, its good for the brain apparently. Im trying to get it done but my flairy ideas keep interfearing with completion, all I want to do is get to the texturing/open up photoshop cause its where I need the practice a ton more.
The UVunwrap stuff in max2014 is really damn nice I think I prefer it to maya's by a mile.
Alas.... getting to that stage seldom happens these days Very Happy

Good job either way. When I was fiddling with Blender it was only to create some fucked up units for Forged Alliance Laughing Now, few years later I can't even model a fucking wall Crying or Very sad
