You could also update even with RLD launcher. The patch will report the error because the file is modified, but all other files will be patched properly. I mean, you'll replace the launcher with the older version anyway, so there is no point of providing an original file.

I'm also getting a second or so freeze when entering VATS with the 1.1 patch. It enters VATS directly when I press V but it freezes for a second or two before the percentage numbers appears on the bodypart targets. Never happened before the patch. I'll probably reinstall and play without the patch, as it didn't really seem to fix anything essential.

Script extender updated, now works with the 1.1 patch.
(And future versions will require the patch to be installed.)

I'm playing with the child killing and mercenary mod. Right now I have two girls following me with what I think are BB guns. I of course plan on killing them and eating their corpses when I get bored of them.
*edit*
Shit looks like the new patch beats YASU

Blame Bethesda I never had the desire to be a child killer in the previous games but being restricted has only made me want to. Especially those fuckers at little lamplight they are worse than those little bastards in The Den.

I'd expect that in a post-apocalyptic wasteland it wouldn't be uncommon to see children with guns and there's already mods where you can kill the little brats.
(Take THAT little lamplighters <- Some of them were pretty annoying, could enslave one of them though for Paradise Falls.)

I'd rather have them remove all kids than making them invincible. Good thing there are mods for it and using them as slaves(fuck you Bethesda).

True, quite a few of those bigger store chains won't carry AO titles or will only display them in the back of the store or similar, makes the game quite hard to sell thus reducing profit for the publisher and developer.
That said the hot-coffee incident was blown up way too much in my opinion (Same with the Oblivion nipples.) for something that's basically a modification and requires third party user created utilities or modifications to work.
(Not at all different from nude patches and similar and I don't see titles as Sims get in problem for that even if kids and such are uncensored as well.)
EDIT: New screen from the first DLC.

I believe the only games to achieve AO had sexual content in it though.
Heres are the ratings to Fallout 2
ELSPA: 15+
ESRB: M (Mature)
OFLC: M15+
USK: 16+
Which of course was much more violent. Now here is Fallout 3's ratings
BBFC: 18[6]
ESRB: M
OFLC: MA15+[7]
OFLC: R18[8]
PEGI: 18+[9]
Clearly having the child killing fails to boost the rating and not having it surely doesn't lessen it. Lets examine the ESRB and their rating system with the difference between M and AO.
| Quote: |
MATURE
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
ADULTS ONLY
Titles rated AO (Adults Only) have content that should only be played by persons 18 years and older. Titles in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity. |
Okay so they are pretty close but the keyword in AO is prolonged. So something like a gruesome torture scene or a very revealing and long sex scene would warrant the highest rating. This leaves child killing and a much more grim world to still fit into the M rating. Clearly this shows Bethesda either doesn't have the balls. Even if we dismissed child killing the wasteland in Fallout 3 simply isn't grim enough.
Another thing that ticks me off is that the previous Fallout games actually had more NPC's and much more interesting towns. Instead of following that example Bethesda says fuck that and just makes a ruined DC with mini towns if you can even call some of them that. (Tenpenny's Tower comes to mind)

There would be the usual backlash from media and such if child killing was part of the game from the start (Without modifications and such.) even certain European editions of the older Fallout titles had the kids removed. (Only made invisible though so a community made patch was quickly made.)
EDIT: Mouse acceleration workaround.

I really wish there would be a game, be that RPG, action or just a plain FPS, where blood, gore, dismemberment and all that kind of nasty stuff is fully included.
I mean its not too hard to ask from today's technology, that a guy i shoot in the head has his brain blown to the wall behind him, or a guy on the ground riddled with holes from neck to toe leave a nice pool of blood or something.
They just dont make these games anymore.
The fact that blood, swearing and nudity is flowing from the TV all around the world does not bother anyone, but games can't have those, as games shape the minds of our children, not television, naaah.. the games.
I think im just not happy with how these rating systems are forcing developers / game designers to adjust their game designs so they can maximise profit. Its not about making good games anymore, its about making the most profitable game, and that means
-a shallow and dumbed down story (so even the stupidest player can quickly catch up),
-short story riddled with holes (so they can easily plug in the expansions),
-pale characters (because everything that would make them colorful just ocnflicts with the next criteria),
-no gore/violence/hard words/nudity (because that would have angry "super-moms" and "let's all love god and our family" politicians crack down on them)
So they will only make games that fit these parameters, so they get an easily accessible and widely accepted product. Its about making money and while i cant really blame them for that, i'm not happy about it either. I miss those people who made games out of passion and i miss the times when these people could affort to be their own publishers.
lemme end my rant with a line that i just cant imagine in any of todays games, sending it to all the money hungry publishers out there:
"Eat shit and die." - duke.
thats it for me, rant over. out.

corporations don't like taking chances. they got teams of lawyers and marketing specialists and all sorts of shit that "research" what the public wants. trying to sell a lot of copies gets them to they cater to the lowest common denominator. same with most mainstream stuff.
take a look at hollywood, or mainstream movies from any other country.
the publishers want their investment back. their not going to put their money on anything weird or too different. they wanna make sure everyone understands their game, or movie or whatever.
the sad thing is that they're prolly right. take a look at the threads for games like zeno clash, pathologic or tension. a few posters, most of them saying "what's this shit?". this is not what most people want. they want crap. and that's what we all get.
look at the last watched movie thread. hollywood and that's pretty much it. every interesting movie is drowned in a ton of posts about the same high profile releases.
if ya want something different(be that something with balls or something smarter or something more subtle or whatever else sort of different you can think of), you gonna have to look towards indie games. sure, there's the occasional mainstream stuff that tries to break some rules, but those are exceptions.

Look how well that media backlash played out for Grand Theft Auto. Ever since the series went 3D. All the media did was serve as a free advertisement.
If Bethesda simply used this to their advantage as well they very well could have achieved higher sales and still have got the M rating.
