FRAPS is always a possibility ofcourse but the 1.5.05 patch removed the + and - keybindings so you can't toggle the HUD interface on/off anymore.
(Console might work as well, don't remember all commands at the moment though, "screenshot" perhaps - can easily cycle all commands with the TAB key though.)
Now I'm in the Agroprom Research Institute. I have some graphical problems with that particular part in the zone. When it rains i have artifacts. It's artifacts only with the rain- some triangles appearing on screen. Everything else specifically in that level - environment, lighting, shaders, textures - is as it should be. Patched the game to 1.5.07. Having a 4870 with 8.11 WHQL. Merely clocked card - 760/940.Temperatures are pretty satisfying with a stock cooler - 39 idle/57 load. Other parts/levels/zones of the game are completely normal.
Edit: - exactly the same situation. Only in that level. I had rains in previous levels but were normal. I now started the game again from the beginning cos there was this initial scene of the game when it was raining outside the house and then the rain was just fine.
I have that as well, known issue and even happened on a few NVIDIA cards, unsure what causes it but there are modification to disable rainy weather and I believe that disabling AA helps with this.
(If you use AA that is, pretty demanding in this game though the ATI 4000 serie handles it pretty well.)
EDIT: Can't exactly say what's new with this version but it updates two more files than the previous one and one of those is for SSAO.
(Probably those shadow improvements the author mentioned previously.)
EDIT: Oh and to clarify this only contains a R3 folder so DX10/DX10.1 (1.5.07) only.
(Explained in the forums.)
EDIT: That fluids shader file is identical to the default version while the other two are updated quite a bit from the 1.5.07 shaders.
a new crack now can be pleasant. stalker SOC haved get cracks for every patch. anyway i already guess that a crack will be then released just like the last red alert 3 patch
I also am hoping they will release a crack for this newest patch soon(which seems to fix things in SP from reading as well). Shouldn't have to, since well, I BOUGHT THE DAMN GAME... But yeah, guess in my haste I didn't realize the steam version was loaded with the bastard-step-son of Securom, ie Tages which ALSO in great wisdom has implemented an activation limit. So yeah, if you upgrade alot you are fucked out of playing the game till the support team stops picking their collective noses and checks their mail and allows me to activate again.
Fuck I hate DRM. Oh well. Just another way to fuck customers over until these companies have no customers left. Fuckers.
Getting back on topic, and off of this protection bullshit discussion which is not allowed;
Is this pile of shit still infested by giant horse cock monster bugs, or can one actually play through the game now without worrying about a broken quest?

Most if not all game stopping bugs have been squashed (for some reason I've managed to play it from start to end without a single bug even with the 1.5.0.4 patch).
Well, the game still has some serious bugs even with 1.5.07 patch. Check this funny situation... I'm now in the Agroprom facility and couple of bandits breaked into the complex shooting and killing Duty soldiers.... well, is that ok? No! cuz Duty soldiers aren't responding! They are dropping dead without fighting! Besides that, the game doesn't allow you to draw your weapon in the base so you'll also die as well. Very annoying. Another thing, you can't change ammo type in pump shotgun until you fire all current rounds from the backpack. Wtf?
Edit: Heck, and I'm loosing my health by standing with my feet in the paddle of water, or swamp, or whatever!? Dunno, no radiation nor toxic waste around. Disappointing.
How far into the game can you get a better artifact detector? The one you start with is crap, I don't have the patience to chase those beeps so I don't have any artifacts so far (granted I just started playing, currently at the place where the original Stalker started out and did a few main story missions).
Also hate how the secret stashes are empty until you buy the info for them - takes all the charm away from exploring.
Edit: oh and did they change the buy/sell ratios of the traders? The economy seems a bit screwy, I never recall having this many problems starting out in the original game. I've hauled lots of stuff to Sidorovich and some of the other traders (cleared out the army base/blockade in the southern end of the map), and yet I can barely afford the few bandages/medkits they have to offer.

Right in the first zone, you can get the very best.
Spoiler:
In the norhtern-western part of the map, there's a broken bridge of the railroad leading through the zone's northern border. Follow the zone-fence near there and you'll be able to get to the bridge through a gap. Search for a small cave and behind a matrace, you'll find it. Hold the use button to highlight it, can be really easily missed.
Float32 works pretty well but the Clear Sky version is a early adapation and more things might be added later but it's also been a while since it was updated.
Don't forget the latest (And last according to GSC) patch either, 1.5.08
For mods check the official forums and http://stalker.filefront.com/ plus FPSBanana for skins, Stalker skins work in Clear Sky for the most part as only smaller stuff was updated. (Some skins or rather textures now contain shell information such as shotguns for example so the shells might be oddly colored if the skin lacks this as it will do if it's from Shadow of Chernobyl.)

Actually, I just figured out how to roll back a patch.
Open up regedit, and then follow this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GSC Game World\STALKER-STCS
In there find the entry called "InstallVers". The variable should be whatever patch you have installed. In my case this was 1.0008. I wanted to to patch to 1.0007, so I changed the variable to 1.0005.
Simply run a patch that is higher than the version you specified, and it will install that patch overwriting the newer files.
