How can they use DX10 for physics calculation anyway? Maybe they just use something like soft particles to make the physics stuff seem more natural. It is possible to "hack" and use shaders for data calculation by using textures as data arrays, but I doubt the used that in conjunction with the PhysX stuff.

sorry if this has already been said, but does the Reloaded release include the 1.1 *supposed* performance patch?

I'm kinda missing the fluids/water simulation from the techdemo, is this because I'm on XP playing in directx9? Or isnt this included in the retail game? I'm @Level 3
And also, 16:10 widescreen is zoomed in for me and the hud gets stretched, I get a much better fov in 4:3 resolution. any of you experiencing the same?

prob cause your using DX9, DX10 seems to have more prettier features which could be done with DX9, just needa find a way to do it.
Wasn't it Crysis that had all these pretty effects for vista/DX10 but if you edited them all you could do it in XP?

Yeah, it seems like an artificial lock (ie if DX10 then FULL else LOW)

Spoiler: | well, you fought that big guy which was some sort of manifestation of the cold (or nature, or whatever, that was also mentioned in the story with the tribe going through the woods) after which you changed the past one last time, by supporting the captain. the captain tried to take off with the chopper or commited suicide, i don't remember exactly. so now he doesn't do that anymore, thus managing to be there when you fall in the ice, at the beginning, and pull you out. |

I'm lost with the ending too.
Spoiler: | Here's how I saw it: In 1981 a scientist leaves his research station in the north pole, heading for a ship that has come to pick him up. Instead of reaching his ship, he stumbles upon the North Wind which has floated dead amongst the ice for years. He fixes errors made by the Northwinds crew and ultimately saves the ship by comforting the captain instead of letting him hear it, which makes the captain not go suicidal. After fixing everything, the captain is there to pick the scientist up in an alternate, "better" timeline.
1: Why are there zombies on the ship?
2: Why can the player influence the past?
3: What is the "time creature" at the end of the game and what was that "time place" in the end?
4: Most importantly, why would the Northern Wind wait for the scientist in 1981 when the original date of the happenings you're supposed to have fixed is years before that date, not to mention that wasn't the ship that was supposed to pick up the scientist. |
PS. I'm also curious about the polar bear scene, I just failed a couple times and skipped it.
EDIT: Spoiler tags. Sorry about that folks, I wasn't thinking.

Spoiler: | I figured q1: They were like some sort of ghosts because if you remember you didn't get real damages from them (from melee or bullets) just some freezing effect on screen no blood. One of the ghosts looked exactly the same like in one of the flashbacks (the guy with the towel on his head).
q2: Some paranormal thing like an X-file
q3: According to the save game name "Chronos" it was the god of time or something..? |
Just experiencing with spoilers Worked the first time Although i don't know if we or myself shot down something important from the game. /apologize if i did..

well, there's some spoilers in your other post too, but divvy describes the entire damn ending
about the polar bear scene:
Spoiler: | there are two exits from the cave and a boulder that you can push if you cliimb the other side.
go out through the lower exit, but only enough for them to see you. go back inside before they shoot and climb next to the boulder, but don't push it yet. wait 'til one of the guys comes inside and push the boulder behind him, trapping him inside. he'll face the exit and start shouting for help. go down behind him and climb towards the upper exit from the cave. you'll see the other guy running away to get help which means you can once again run free through the icey fields of the north. and whatever else polar bears do.

Wanted to be a little aggressive and... Spoiler: | squish the guy with the pushable boulder | but oh well it makes sense. Don't know how it differs the story tho...

Unsubstantiated reports suggested that Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason would be upgraded and improved prior to its North American debut:
At first, the quirky nature of the story, and even of the story-telling, are captivating and encourage the player to dig deeper into the mystery and start putting the pieces together. The trouble is that things don't really come together soon enough to keep the mystery interesting. Even after playing for several hours, we're no closer to figuring out what's going on. We've heard that the ultimate resolution manages to tie most of the elements together in a neat little package, but since we hit a massive no-clip bug about two-thirds of the way in, whether the ending is great or not is kind of a moot point. In any case, the game needed to have solved at least a few of the mysteries before we gave up on it.

What? I had no problems what so ever. If you have a semi decent computer you can run it, no problem.
