Is it possible to make a backup of the folder where you installed the game ?
so, when you want to install the game, just extract all files to hard disk and run the exe (like Dawn of War 2) ?
chill out man, life is beautifull...

Yes, it is possible. If you have an original version, you can even do it through Steam.

Cartoon, are you sure you are not an creative assembly under cover member?
Alls you do is praise this game beyond anyone I've seen praising it before?
Only joking mate, if you like it that much, what can i say.
Anyway.
I've bought the game played it 2hours max.
I'm waiting for a decent mod to come out and the patches.
As there is quiet alot of bugs in the game.

what this needs first and foremost is a proper AI (mod), as always, the vanilla AI is too stupid to do horseshit ...

Game is indeed awesome, although bug ridden at the moment. When they sort this out this is going to be a classical game for me. I'll probably play it for years just like I did TW: Rome.
We can expect a patch this week that hopefully will fix all the CTD. Fixing AI, units and the realism layer will be up to modders. As always.

Sure, but the AI is REALLY bad. Easiest example: The AI deploys cannon, starts moving the infantry line towards my units, leaves some cavarly to defend the cannons. I charge the cannons with my cavarly hoping to destroy them before the AI's cavarly can react, but the AI does NOTHING. THe cavarly just sits there, doesn't intercept my cavarly, doesn't join the fight. NOTHING.

Sure the AI isn't always on the ball, but it's not bad... it's just not perfect - and I really don't know why you'd expect it to be. Even the most realistic simulations within even the most abstract representations have poor AI. Further we don't know whether some of these examples of bad AI are not in fact bugs - because this game is quite buggy it's entirely feasible that's the case.
Just remember that they will be releasing a multiplayer patch with campaign playability and if your mouth isn't salivating, you're not human!
I just hope they allow us to ban mortars as they are awful and practically impossible to defeat against a camping opponent.

Thank Bejeebus for multiplayer. Still, not gonna join the community till I get a bit more practice. My mind is still in Medieval. While fighting the Brits, I keep thinking some longbowmen will start shooting from a barn somewhere.

sorry i disagree about the AI. in ALL TW games, modders made the AI marvelous and really challenging. It is simply BEYOND me, why CA didn't hire some of them for the job ...

That's because there is a difference between game development and modifying an existing game.

If the modders had the original task of creating the game through a development process they wouldn't have had the benefit of being able to look at a finished product and improve upon it. There is a difference.

then hire the modders (no problem there, easy to find them through twcenter) and hire them to IMPROVE upon their initial product.
Btw, you think CA used new code since RTW ? I dont think so (talking about AI specificly here, but it goes as far as mostly anything.)

I'm thinking on buying this game..
But afaik, they only got the normal version in the local gameshop.. Should I buy that, or is it better to find the special edition for those extra units?
Or is it possible to somehow hack the game to get those extra units you get with special edition thingy if you buy the normal game?
I hate you.

yes they pirating a trade route. You can do that with the routes of your enemy (red usually, yellow when shared), select one of your fleet and hover mouse over it and it should change to an "attack" symbol (same as on battle map).

Folow the thread and judge for yourself self. CA went to the trouble of banning the unlocking of special units talk...
Probably moders will get hose out anyway and hopefully mush more content.
Personally i don´t think is worth. In fact i´m amazed with the amount of players that whiningly seek and pay for this pinp-barbies things!!
A good detailed map would actually be something usefully as i cant see shit with all those bright markers toy buildings overzised crap floating around on the campaign map - this not.

with a naval unit/fleet selected if you pass the mouse pointer on a trade rout it it will become a target reticule if you can raid it (that is if its being used by a enemy)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH Let me @ self-righteous "you want to use something we've paid for for freeeeeee, and it is illegal with good reason!!1" idiots. Give me a fucking break. You get the content on the disk you have bought (assuming you have indeed bought it ), you have the right to use it. Moreover, like brought up by modders on a few threads, you wouldn't be able to use these units after installing mods, because if the mods use the units, they will use them on all versions. Fucking major thumbs down to TWC for going along with this retarded policy.
An interesting discussion also:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=234718
Seems like a lot of problems for serious modding. Someone said "buy it"?

I'm sure any modifications can come in two flavours, one with support for the units, one without - but modifications or not, there is no justifiable reason not to buy the game. So yeah, buy it!

Yes, but what reason is there to make mod makes go through all these hoops? Oh yeah, GREED.
Also, sure two versions can be made, but what stops Stealth88 here (<3) from getting the SF version? Do you think a simple "Only get this if you have SF version! We trust you!" will suffice?
Not sure if I want to buy it, at this point anyway. It's not out in stores here anyway, so maybe until it's out a patch will be out to take care of all the problems people are having (downright calling it the worst release technically and consider themselves betatesters - their words).
