yup some stores broke the street rls date, looking at the gamespot forums etc some people already got it, so we should see a release very very soon Very Happy

btw, the game has a 3-installs-limit, unrevocable. one more reason for pirating the hell out of it.

Can also support the developer/publisher by buying it and then use a nocd "crack" (Or similar) to avoid activating the game in the first place if you don't want to risk losing activations.

That said SecuROM normally revokes such stuff during a uninstall and it can also be forced in more recent versions of the software (Or what to call the protection) (/revoke as a command parameter as a shortcut or similar to the game exe if I remember correctly.)

I think HIS(not mine, just gotta say it before Cedge comes in here cursing at me) point was that it's not worth supporting them when they put in protection that only harms people who buy the game.

As you say djaoni choosing to not support them due to the protection method utilized is of course a valid choice though unfortunately I doubt it'll do much for not many people will actually boycott the game and if they instead choose to download it that might even convince the developers (Or publishers) that a even stronger protection method is required.
(I don't like any of these online protections for just that reason but I can use them, you have to be connected and verified which can be problematic for some plus you can lose "activations" easily with having to do a very difficult process to get them back going back and forth with customer support.)

let me put it this way: there are ppl who buy the game - and there are those who don't (or pirate it). for the pirates, it doesn't make a difference how strong the protection is, as more or less every one has been cracked thus far and for the warez end-user, the process doesn't change (copy files over and play). but the stronger the protection gets, the more steps it involves to play a game, which is 1. tedious for the customer and 2. makes more room for bugs or other issues which in the end could prevent one from playing it - summa summarum consumer nerd rage! Evil or Very Mad
not to mention stronger protections cost lots of money.

my point: when i buy a game, it should be at least less of a hassle than pirating it. plus, i mostly sell those ones that don't have any lasting appeal once you've played through. ergo, including online activation and only 3 installs doesn't necessarily serve as an incentive to buy it. Wink

did sales from ubi or stardock plummet when they dropped the copy protection? nope - and other publishers should see the light there some time too.

/TLDR post mode off, that's all i have to say. how about we actually talk about the game again Wink

Their sales didn't necessarily plummet, but neither did the number of people pirating their games. Prince of Persia, which had no copy protection whatsoever, was pirated every bit as heavily as Far Cry 2, which had limited-activation SecuROM protection. This pretty much completely blows away the claim that many pirates use, which is that they wouldn't pirate games, if they didn't have "restrictive" DRM.

And regarding Stardock: let's be honest. More people pirate Objectdock and Windowblinds, than pay for them.

you're right there, but that's not my point. PoP may have been pirated as heavily as farcry2, but at least this time they weren't losing sales because of people boycotting the DRM.

anyway, to bring this to an end: removing the protection doesn't necessarily increase sales, but stronger DRM doesn't either, plus it's tedious and costs money. period.

Your argument goes both ways. It didn't lower piracy, but it didn't exponentially raise it, as EA or Crytek would like you to believe.

People who pirate "cause they boycott the DRM" just don't want to pay. They can always buy the game, download the crack, and play without any protection at all. These people know how to get the crack in 30 secs, but noooo, they want to boycott the DRM...Of course...cause its free Razz

Riddick: Dark Athena

You can start the game as either one. But, you have to start a new game if you want to switch stories. I started with Dark Athena. Luckily I am not having the problems other people are with running the game.

a few more. Great shadows & depth of field...I love it.
