Can also support the developer/publisher by buying it and then use a nocd "crack" (Or similar) to avoid activating the game in the first place if you don't want to risk losing activations.
That said SecuROM normally revokes such stuff during a uninstall and it can also be forced in more recent versions of the software (Or what to call the protection) (/revoke as a command parameter as a shortcut or similar to the game exe if I remember correctly.)

As long as it gets cracked, who gives a crap about what protection is used?

I think HIS(not mine, just gotta say it before Cedge comes in here cursing at me) point was that it's not worth supporting them when they put in protection that only harms people who buy the game.

As you say djaoni choosing to not support them due to the protection method utilized is of course a valid choice though unfortunately I doubt it'll do much for not many people will actually boycott the game and if they instead choose to download it that might even convince the developers (Or publishers) that a even stronger protection method is required.
(I don't like any of these online protections for just that reason but I can use them, you have to be connected and verified which can be problematic for some plus you can lose "activations" easily with having to do a very difficult process to get them back going back and forth with customer support.)

Their sales didn't necessarily plummet, but neither did the number of people pirating their games. Prince of Persia, which had no copy protection whatsoever, was pirated every bit as heavily as Far Cry 2, which had limited-activation SecuROM protection. This pretty much completely blows away the claim that many pirates use, which is that they wouldn't pirate games, if they didn't have "restrictive" DRM.
And regarding Stardock: let's be honest. More people pirate Objectdock and Windowblinds, than pay for them.

you're right there, but that's not my point. PoP may have been pirated as heavily as farcry2, but at least this time they weren't losing sales because of people boycotting the DRM.
anyway, to bring this to an end: removing the protection doesn't necessarily increase sales, but stronger DRM doesn't either, plus it's tedious and costs money. period.

Your argument goes both ways. It didn't lower piracy, but it didn't exponentially raise it, as EA or Crytek would like you to believe.

People who pirate "cause they boycott the DRM" just don't want to pay. They can always buy the game, download the crack, and play without any protection at all. These people know how to get the crack in 30 secs, but noooo, they want to boycott the DRM...Of course...cause its free
