Stemot, you are totally right, but this is how shadows used to be drawn then (Doom 3, for example, was like that as well). But they could have clearly enabled the shadow cast without hitch here.

Dramatization of the issue:
I just watched that, I do get a shadow in that place, I'll have to check it out as I'm playing through again on the new hard difficulty now. Im probably wrong, but I'll check when I get tjhere.
YouTube has many videos demonstrating the issue. Just search for "fear 2 shadows" and you'll see. I sincerely hope it's a bug, but considering two patches are out and no fix, I assume this is by design to cut on console hardware demands. JB even posted a video showing an early beta and retail, and the early beta had tons more shadows (all looking good, not like you said about FEAR1).
Has nothing to do with consoles. FEAR1 on 360 has just as many shadows as PC version. FEAR2's shadows is a design decision and there is nothing to fix.
FEAR1 on 360 didn't have the number of polygons this one has, the number of shader effects this one has and the lightning this one has. They had to make a cut and they did away with the shadows. That's the design decision.

Even if that's the case, the game still looks better than the first, so I can live without a few dynamic shadows in places.
Matter of opinion, I for one feel the actual quality of the lighting (not the shadows) is far better, whereas the original just looked like a fear 1 mod. I just like how much more vibrant and detailed the world looks now.

It looks more vibrant because there is actually color on the video. The old footage is taken from a very low quality video.

Ive seen the HD video of the 18 minute gameplay, and it looks just as dull and FEAR 1 like as the youtube variant.
i can;t start the game with the retarded loader
the ini file looks like this
[Loader]
# Specify the name of the application to load.
# You can also specify the command line.
#
ProcName=D:\Games\F.E.A.R 2 Project Origin\fear2.exe
# Specify the location of the original steamclient.dll
# which comes with Steam client
# You can comment this line out if the game doesn't use it
#
SteamClientDll=D:\Games\F.E.A.R 2 Project Origin\steamclient2.dll
and when i double click the loader it gives me this error
Warning
Take note, that the loader is written in Visual C++ 2008, and you will need the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable available here. Make sure to install it before running the loader, as it will not work otherwise.
Edit: Cheers!

thanks leo,can't wait to play with the shadows
First DLC (Toy maps) hits console next week (PC version follows later on.) and a second and third DLC have been announced, second one adds more "mech" maps and the third adds new MP and even SP levels.
Too bad they ruined multiplayer for PC by leaving console multiplayer system in place. Can't believe I was considering to buy this, but thanks to piracy I wasn't robbed of 50$. I had tons of fun with SP, but butchered console MP system in PC version is a NO NO.
