The support is laughable, i could see myself buying something like that if it would work with any game.

So, just for fun I installed ArmA and suddenly I remembered why I didn't like OPF!
I can't fucking hit anything. I wouldn't be able to hit the broadside of a barn.
That one mission, where you supposed to snipe troops? I, equipped with a sniper rifle, maanged to get 3 of the 20 or so guys. They, equiped with freaking machine guns and assault rifles, killed me rather quick. Am I doing something completly wrong or are those games supposed to be hard like that? Althought that's beyond hard. That's more in the lines of STALKER 500m sniper shotgun hard... Whatever

Yup, it's not for Crysis players. You can't just aim for the head from 2 kilometers and hit without problems.

Problem is, or at least it feels like, the enemy can!
I swear to god, sometimes I can't even see where I hit, sometimes I see dirt flying so I figure aim a little higher/lower but sometimes there's nothing to tell where my bullet went.
And I am far from your average Crysis (or any other action overloaded FPS for that matter) player.
I am aware of things like trajectory, ballistics etc. so I'm not like "why doesn't my bullet fly straight for the next 500km?
I'm gonna try again later but I'm probably gonna suck as much as I did last time Very Happy
Do I have to go ahead and calculate the drop rate of bullet so I can even hit one of those guys?
Then somebody better give me a formula for that...

Make sure you have a good frame rate first of all. You can download mods that make the AI less accurate (simulating supressive fire) but you shouldn't have to unless you prefer it.

I think I remember the mission you are on about (where you climb a water tower?), and it's really a case of just picking your targets and hoping for the best. If you're having problems hitting them it's just practice you lack (unless, as I say the frame rate is interfering).

Yep, that's the mission and my framerate isn't an issue.
It probably is just lack of practice but it's just kinda frustrating.
I have a sniper rifle and can't hit shit.
They have assault rifles and machine guns and hit me.
Somehow that feels just wrong Very Happy

Ok, after I read somewhere that this might be copy protection related this game can seriously go fuck itself. I ain't going around getting myself 20 different cracks hoping that one of them is working correctly. Screw that shit.

I too find it hard to snipe, but with time it gets easier.
Especially when you learn to use the pips.

This Guide should help you to understand it.

This is also a great site. Loads of information about everything in ArmA.
And This is a great guide for snipers.

Yes it slowly gets worse over time if i remember if you got bad crack, it starts to make your aiming impossible lol, its why i never bothered that road and bought it. It was most def worth it after all the fun coop mission gaming ive had for sure...

Standard arma is useless in sp really as well, you will need to make sure your fully patched, and would sudgest using some mods with a diff single player campaign that are available.. Personally ive never done single player with arma, multiplay is where its at, go mess on the evolution servers to get your feet wet, and then try the ace mod with the servers that allow it..

Quick question. Is there a working crack for 1.14 that does not fuck up your game?
If not, I might wait and hope they release a demo for ArmA 2 and decide wether to get it or not Very Happy

K, since that's the one I got it just means I'm a really crappy shot with that stupid rifle.
Btw. who would go ahead and try to snipe a whole freaking convoy without having anything to determine the distance? Or am I just missing something?
I can't for the love of god determine how far they are away...

dont forget to move that slider in options back to nothing so u dont get that lag feel when aiming... no idea why the hell they have that... feels more fps aiming without it and accurate..

1.14, some decent changes from 1.14 to latest though for optimization etc..

Yeah, well, that sort of aiming is there for realism.
It's not that easy to adapt to but once you get around to it feels better plus you got the free-look thingie so you can look around without changing your aim (if that makes any sense Very Happy)

it's a lot easier to notice small details when the screen isn't jumping along with every pixel you move your mouse
track-ir would be optimal ofcourse as you get to move head and gun/body independently

This baby is coming 26th june for europeans. No date for North America announced. Might be a lack of NA publisher?
And its PC exclusive... no console version, at least for now.

Maybe in a chopper. On foot it's just unrealistic for soldiers to not have their eyes in the same direction as their gun. In fact, that's one of the first basic lessons you get in basic. I think TrackIR is a gimmick money-sink for easily manipulated nerds who fall into the same PR-trap and then make up some bullshit to rationalize their purchase. "Oh, I didn't just waste $200 on some junk I really didn't need... it's really that good, please buy the same useless piece of junk so I won't feel so bad about wasting my cash, at least I'll be an idiot with company".

No really, there's this dude called dyslexic who has made his denial into a series of purchases. Rolling Eyes

uh, actually trackir is really useful - and essential for choppers
and you don't have to dish out money for it - just get a regular webcam, a bunch of leds and make your own with freetrack
takes a bit more cpu and has a slight lag because of that but works on all trackir products just as well
i usually don't use it for most straightforward missions, but it's damn useful when you need the extra sensory awareness - like close quarters combat
