Actually, nope. Not for emulation. The NTSC BIOS works fine for all region games and has no benefits nor drawbacks over using region-specific BIOS files. The only difference is the DVD-player BIOS, which no sane person would want/need for an emulator Razz

So what do i need to do?
Download that ps2 emulator, then download a ps2 game, then just mount the ps2 game once i've converted the files to an iso using winrar.
Then play the game after updating and getting the latest plug-in?

And read as much documentation as you can before asking any questions... Just so you dont piss Sabin off. Very HappyVery Happy

I only get pissed off where people continually ask questions that could quite easily be answered by RTFM Very Happy

www.pcsx2.net - Guide is there.
www.google.com - BIOS is there.
http://re4rainbow.4shared.com - Latest SVN and plugins are there.

Simple.

Don't tell me what to do. I'll post whatever I like - and the reason why I don't link to your site (it's obviously yours as you're getting whiney about me posting another Razz) is because the package there is bundled with everything - not very smart when you're trying to keep alternate versions. No, instead you just lumped every newest release into a single setup and forced it on people.

Or are you one of the deluded that think "Latest equals Bestest!!!"? Rolling Eyes

At least with Rainbow, the guy has posted plugins and emulator seperately - so you can pick and choose. THAT is the best way of doing it, because newest SVN plugins quite often break the hell out of older shit.

Yeah, keeping up-to-date isn't important, unless you notice one of your specific problems has been fixed.

That isn't my compile, I just work on a couple of the plugins.

I never said keeping up to date wasn't important, dude, but then; keeping completely up to date usually ISN'T important anyway, or can do more harm than good. Drivers and plugins alike.

By all means, link to your work - and if you really are one of the devs then you have my utmost thanks as the emulator (and its plugins) is excellent - but don't whine at me about linking to a repository that doesn't have Day0 compiles. I've seen far too many games work great on PCSX2 (and indeed any emulator) that end up being broken horribly by later versions. By getting the one from the mediafire link, you're being locked into using the latest of the latest .. unless you decide to clutter everything by having multiple emulator folders. At least from my link, you can choose which plugins you want.

This is pretty lame topic since PS2 is now just $99 and most games can be bought for under $20. If you have PS3 emulator then it would be interesting.

This is a thread about all emulation, it just so happens that PS2 emulation is featured heavily due to the advancing development. Not many here play around with Dolphin mainly because it's very slow and incompatible at the moment, whereas PS2 emulation is considerably further along.

Yes, the hardware can be had for $99. I can go buy a SNES for £5, does that mean I - or anyone - shouldn't emulate it? Rolling Eyes

Logic fail, sir.

Given i can count the number of times i've used a ps2 emulator on one hand but the graphic plugins still isn't very good imho.

I'm a RPG-nut (among other things) so i'm happy as it is with zSNES Smile.

a site i used to check out when i was into emulation more heavily than now was www.ngemu.com (and zophar.net but i'm not sure if anyone works at that site anymore)

I agree with you, but think long term. In 5 years or so when PS2 emulation is perfected, all games will run properly without any glitches at 60fps and at high resolution. It will be awesome. But right now in current emulation stage getting a 99$ PS2 is a smarter move.

I love this topic... if you don't bother just don't read it ... Ill bet there are more then enough people who are enjoying this , including me.

And no ... i don't have 99 dollars for a new PS2 which i also need to MOD again to play all that games.

The best, and well - only working one right now, GCN emulator is Dolphin. It's being worked on every day, just like PCSX2, but isn't as far along in the compatibility or speed department. Even worse is that the emulator doesn't support TLB - which quite a few GCN games require. The devs have said they do NOT plan to implement it as doing so would absolutely cripple performance.

Dreamcast, there is NullDC. Updated sporadically at best (last update was over a year ago and whenever someone asks for info, they get snapped at - so it seems to me that the devs don't give a shit anymore, hoping another emu will come along and bail them out. The idiots can't even manage to get a working controller plugin for it after the newest version broke the compatibility) I recommend sticking to 1.0 Beta6 and forgoing the new 1.3 completely. Not only is 1.0b6 faster and more compatible, but it also supports gamepads.

360 emulators? Not that I know of, sorry.

NullDC runs all games DC and Naomi games FULL FUCKING SPEED hell YEAH

Mate, this emulator isn't perfect - and Shadow of Colossus was one of the most system-demanding games on the PS2. It, like GoW2, really pushed the machine to its limits. I'm not surprised you can't play it full speed - I doubt anyone can Razz
