|
 |
my burner at home for some reason insists on trying to burn stuff too fast. my plextor at work will burn most media at 2.4x and i have no problem with it. my samsung burner at home though will default to 4x on most stuff and 9 times outta 10 it won't play in my 360. i know the media tells imgburn what minimum speed it can be burned at but is there a way to force it to burn a disc at 2.4x or something?

It has an option for speed (under the device options, just before starting the write)

dude c'mon i'm not that clueless. what i'm saying is i put a verbatim in my plextor here at work and it imgburn will say it can burn it at 2.4x and 4x. i go home and put that same blank into my samsung and it shows the minimum speed as 4x, where as the plextor shows 2.4x.
from what i have read it has something to do with the media telling your drives firmware what speeds it can be burned at. something like that anyway.

This sounds like your Samsung just doesn't support slower writing speeds. If this is the case there's nothing you can do. Well almost nothing. Maybe there's a firmware hack or something.

Did you try a new firmware for the Samsung? Recently my Lite-On refused to burn any dvds, so I updated the firmware and everything works fine again.

The software will burn at any speed you like up to the maximum of the media. You should look for a Samsung update with preferably altered bitsettings for the media you use.
